Install Ubuntu and other Linux systems on a mobile hard disk

I once installed Windows on a mobile hard disk, but eventually gave up because of the problem. Some people on the Internet have provided a method for installing a mobile hard disk on xp, but they need to change a lot of things, so I am not too easy to think about it. Besides, Windows is not a tough thing. But for Linux systems such as Ubuntu and Fedora, it is easier to install them on mobile devices: Step 1: Create a USB disk version of livecd. Step 2: Insert a USB flash drive and a mobile hard drive. Step 3: Start the USB flash drive and install the system. I published an article a few days ago.

I once installed Windows on a mobile hard disk, but eventually gave up because of the problem. Some people on the Internet have provided a method for installing a mobile hard disk on xp, but they need to change a lot of things, so I am not too easy to think about it. Besides, Windows is not a tough thing.

However, Linux systems such as Ubuntu and Fedora can be easily installed on mobile devices:

Step 1: Create a USB flash drive livecd.
Step 2: Insert a USB flash drive and a mobile hard drive.
Step 3: Start the USB flash drive and install the system.

A few days ago published an article "Windows and Ubuntu dual system completely independent Installation Method" (see http://www.linuxidc.com/Linux/2012-06/63810.htm), the specific approach is similar, please read this article first.

Make a U disk boot can refer to "liveusb-creator v3.11.7 releases" see http://www.linuxidc.com/Linux/2012-06/62925.htm.

It is worth mentioning that when selecting the Boot Mode, many people often modify the bios boot sequence. Ubuntu home provides a good method here: by selecting the boot menu, this method does not need to change any settings. When the computer is started, there are two options: "Modify Settings" and "Select Start Menu". For example, F2 is used to enter the settings, and F10 is used to select the Start Menu. For many boot menus on computers, such as F10 or F12 (I have seen both of them in a short time), I once installed a classmate and found that his settings were not started from a USB flash drive or other devices, however, it is quite strange to choose the Start Menu.

Ubuntu installation Type Selection

When selecting the installation type, you must select your mobile hard disk and your mobile hard disk when installing the boot guide device, do not select a partition (primary partition or boot partition) to move the hard disk ). (Ps has nothing to do with the installation method mentioned in this article)

After the installation is complete, restart the computer, unplug the USB flash drive, select the boot menu, and select move hard disk. Everything is OK.

Grub installed in the system of the mobile hard disk will add the boot item in the hard disk of the Computer (of course, you can choose to boot the system in the hard disk), if you feel uncomfortable, you can execute the following command to modify: sudo vi/boot/grub. cfg (if you are not familiar with vi, you can use gedit to modify it) to delete the startup items you do not need.

Partition

For my partition method: disk 0 is a computer hard disk, Disk 1 is a mobile hard disk. Disk 0: Drive C is win7, and the following 1.91G is the swap partition. The 19.67G is the main Ubuntu partition, and no boot or home partition is performed. Disk:. 06G is fedora, and 1.00G is swap.

Linux partitions are logical partitions. I don't know why they are recognized as primary partitions, when partitioning a hard disk, you must note that "the number of Primary partitions and extended partitions cannot exceed four" (an extended partition is generally one (large green box ), extended partitions can be divided into many logical partitions (in a light blue box). Otherwise, the system cannot be identified or the Ubuntu cannot be partitioned, resulting in the installation of the system. Therefore, you must partition the system properly before installing the system.

In the future, you can start your system around with a mobile hard disk.

For archLinux users, if you want to install it on a mobile hard disk, you need to change some things: the HOOKS item in mkinitcpio. conf must be added with "usb", and the partition must use uuid. I was lucky to have installed it once, but it was deleted due to wireless Internet access. There are also many methods available on the Internet. please google them.

You can install fedora, depinLinux, and other systems with peace of mind. For the installation system, you must be bold and have nothing to conquer.

The meego system has tried and failed to give up, but the ui is still pretty good.
