Install WSUS 3.0

This is what I wrote a long time ago. Send and keep a record.

Part 1 Preparations before installation

1. supported new platforms and requirements for WSUS 3.0 server platforms and requirements:
1. Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1

2. SQL Server 2005 SP1, SQL Server 2005 express SP1, or Windows internal database

3. Microsoft. NET Framework 2.0

4. The Internet Information Service (IIS) 6.0

5. backend smart Transmission Service (BITs) 2.0

2. WSUS 3.0 console platform and requirements:

1. Windows XP SP1 or SP2, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, or Windows Server "Longhorn"

2. Management Console (MMC) 3.0

3. Microsoft report Viewer

Iii. Client Computer Platform and requirements:

1. Windows XP SP1 or SP2, Windows Vista, Windows Server 2003, or Windows Server "Longhorn"

2. backend smart Transmission Service (BITs) 2.0

4. My environment is Windows Server 2003 SP1, and the client is Windows Server 2003 SP1 and Windows XP SP1

Part II Start Installation

Note: If the following picture is displayed during installation, it indicates that you have not installed the content shown in the picture. This picture is taken from another host because the system patch is not complete.

If you have installed the above patch, a prompt is displayed.

The following image also prompts you to install Microsoft mc3.0 and Microsoft report viewer.

Although the two patches can be installed without them. However, it is strongly not recommended to do so.

To select the storage location of the update file, we recommend that you install the partition space greater than 20 GB.

In the dialog box that appears, I use the default IIS website. (This option is strongly recommended for individuals. We recommend that you do not load any web applications on the default website.Program.)

Click "Next"

After the page appears, it indicates that WSUS has been successfully installed.

Part 3WSUSConfiguration and use

After WSUS is installed, the installer automatically jumps to the "WSUS Configuration Wizard ".

Based on this wizard, we can complete the WSUS configuration.

In the window, select "Next"

I directly choose to update from Microsoft Update.

In the window, configure the method for downloading the patch (if the proxy is on the internet, configure it here)

Click Start connection

It may take some time to start the connection, depending on your machine configuration and network conditions.

Select update language. Here, select Chinese.

Next, select the Microsoft product to be updated based on your needs.

Select your updated category. I will use the default

Select a synchronization plan. Here I select manual synchronization or automatic synchronization.

Complete. click Next.

Click "finish" below"

Click "finish ". Now, the Configuration Wizard is complete.

Choose Start> program> Administrative Tools> Microsoft Windows Server Update Services 3.0

Enter a similar interface.

Note: if such a dialog box appears during configuration, install mmc3.0 or set Windows Server 2003

After the first operation, Yin searched from Microsoft's update server for the patch to be downloaded.

After adding a computer group, you can update client patches for different computer groups.

Appendix Partial files

1. system component installation steps:

Mmc3.0-> IIS->. NET 2.0-> reportviewer-> wsus3.0

2. The windows internal database has been integrated into the WSUS installation package and does not need to be downloaded.
