I believe that everyone familiar with the Internet should know the role of DNS server. DNS is closely related to our daily online life.
DNS: (Domain NameService) as its name implies, is a Domain name resolution service. Its main function is to resolve the Domain name and IP address.
Early DNS development involves three phases:
Distributed parsing: the so-called distributed parsing means that the parsing work is the responsibility of every host, that is, the hosts file in the computer system we use now.
Centralized Resolution:

DNS resolution mainly consists of the following processes: (assume the website address: www.baidu.com IP Address: 119.75.218.70)

The IP address of the router to which the client connects. For example, if a client wants to access www.baidu.com, the client will ask the ip address of www.baidu.com to the connected router.

Because the client Router does not know the ip address of www.baidu.com, it needs to ask the ip address of www.baidu.com to the top-level domain of the Internet.

The top-level domain will receive an inquiry, and www.baidu.com belongs to the top-level domain com, so it will reply to the client router to ask the top-level domain com

The client requests the ip address of www.baidu.com from the first-level router com.

The first-level domain com replies to the client to ask about baidu.com.

The client router sends an inquiry to baidu.com and asks about the IP address of www.baidu.com.

Because www.baidu.com is a host in the second-level domain of baidu.com, baidu.com directly replies to the IP address of the client router www.baidu.com: 119.75.218.70

The client uses the IP address 119.75.218.70 to access www.baidu.com.

Note: DNS query methods include:

Recursive query: a query initiated by the client. (1)

Iterative query: queries initiated by the server. (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8)

After talking about this, let's start installing and configuring the DNS server:

Add a DNS server role:

Open Server Manager ------- CLICK: Manage ------- add roles and functions:

 

Click next:

Check: Role-based or function-based installation, and then click Next:

Select: select the server from the server pool and click Next:

Select the DNS server we want to install and click Next:

In the dialog box that appears, we will ask if we want to add the functions required by the DNS server. Click Install.

The following message indicates what functions are required for installation. Click next:

Next step:

Finally, confirm the installation and click "Install ".

Installation started. Wait.

Click Close to complete the installation of the required DNS server.

2. Check whether the DNS server is successfully installed:

Open the tools in the Server Manager and click DNS. The following window is displayed, indicating that the installation is successful:
