Install Ubuntu 9.10 on Hard Disk

Recently, I got a mobile hard drive, and all the American TV series had a new place to live. x61 was suddenly much empty, so I had the urge to install another Ubuntu on the XP version.

1. Ubuntu on the official website on the latest version of the ISO file, named ubuntu-9.10-desktop-i386.iso, placed in the D disk (C disk as a system partition has been my plug --!)

2.net search grub4dos, decompress grldrand grub.exe file, put in the C drive (system partition) root directory, and then with daemon_tool opened the ubuntu-9.10-desktop-i386.iso file, initrd inside. the LZ and vmlinuz files are copied and stored in the root directory of drive C (system partition.

In the tutorial, The initrd.lzfile must be renamed as initrd.gz. After the result is renamed, grub cannot be normally read after being started. After a long time, I discovered that I did not need to rename the file...

3. Create the menu. LST file and use NotePad to rename it:

Title install Ubuntu 9.10

Root (hd0, 0)

Kernel/vmlinuz boot = Casper iso-Scan/filename =/ubuntu-9.10-desktop-i386.iso Ro quiet splash

Initrd/initrd. LZ

Boot

Titile is followed by the title in the startup item, and xxoo is irrelevant to the overall situation.

Hd0 and 0 are the locations of system partitions. if the system is mounted on a disk D, it should be hd0 and 1. If it is mounted on the first partition of the second hard disk, it should be hd1, 0 ah, am I too embarrassed?

Then Filename must be correct.

After creation, it is still stored in the root directory of drive C (system partition ).

In this way, the C root directory contains the following five files:

The above is the Ubuntu interface that I installed later .. Ignore readme.txt, which is in grub4dos...

4. Add c: \ grldr = "Start Grub" at the end of boot. ini, and then restart the computer and enter grub instead of XP.

5. after grub, the first item is ubuntu. Although the hard disk has not been installed yet, there are already Ubuntu interfaces and various software. I think it should be equivalent to Ubuntu, which is the boot disk of the CD, it's just a virtual CD. There is an install Ubuntu on the desktop. After double-clicking it, the graphic interface will be followed.

6. There was another episode on the partition. I didn't leave the hard disk partition idle and unallocated. I found out that my ISO was placed in the partition of the d disk when I tried to delete the D disk with the Ubuntu installer.

So I had to exit, go back to XP, use partitionmagician to cut the D disk to 25 GB capacity, and then delete the new partition...

7. This time I went back to install Ubuntu and added an option for Ubuntu to use the maximum capacity of the remaining hard disk. As long as I select this option, I will easily finish it later. Finally, I will post a desktop:

Is the background awesome? Wow! My favorite Screen Saver is glmatrix, which has a bad experience ~ This cannot be a screenshot. You can try it after installation!
