Install Hadoop in standalone mode-(1) install and set up a virtual environment for hadoop Standalone

There are a lot of articles on how to install Hadoop in standalone mode on the network. Most of the articles that follow these steps fail, and many detours have been taken, but all the problems have been solved after all, by the way, you can record the complete installation process in detail.

This article describes how to set up a virtual machine environment in a Windows environment and some preparation work. If you are familiar with WMware, you can skip this article.

The notes I have recorded are suitable for users who do not have a Linux Foundation to operate with me.

 

Environment conventions

The following environment is based on the commit write time: 5th July 2015.

Host Machine: Windows 8

Virtual Machine environment: WMware Wrokstation 11

Ubuntu version: Ubuntu Desktop 14.04.2

Physical Environment:

Notebook Thinkpad T420 i5 CPU 4 + 4 = 8 GB memory, GB hard disk.

Others:

Java version: 7

Hadoop version: 2.7.0

 

Next, set up the virtual machine environment.

Install WMware Workstation 11. If Hyper-v has been installed on the machine, delete it. Otherwise, VMware will prompt incompatibility.

Download the Ubuntu iso image. Here I download the Desktop version, and the latest stable version is 14.04.2. You can download it directly on the Ubuntu official website.

You can also select the Ubuntu Server version. It is easier to configure Gedit in Desktop. It doesn't matter if you are familiar with vim and do not mind the pure command interface.

Install the Ubuntu virtual machine.

Open VMware and create a new virtual machine.

Typical Configuration:

Select to install later. If some versions are directly installed, problems may occur.

Select the operating system.

Name the Virtual Machine and specify the file storage location. Try to save 20 GB of storage.

This is the default option, but I chose to store the disk as a single file.

Click Finish to exit the settings.

Click the new virtual machine to set the CD/DVD installation media.

Select the location of the downloaded Ubuntu instance.

On the Virtual Machine network configuration page, we recommend that you disconnect the network to avoid automatically downloading patches during installation.
