What does the virtual function do?
You're still thinking about how to install a dual system, instead of installing a virtual machine and installing the system you want to install on a virtual machine.
If you want to play a game, but worry about the system crashes, then you can install the game on the virtual machine to reduce trouble.
If you want to learn Linux, I think it is a good choice to install Linux on a virtual machine. --Oh, I also installed the virtual machine in such a background.
Here are my notes for installing Vmware-workstation and Linux Centos-5.5-i386-bin-dvd.
Prepare before installation
In order to ensure that the software installation can be successfully completed, to avoid the software version of the difference caused by the error, I will install the software are released, to download it.
Virtual machine Software: Vmware-workstation-full-9.0.0-812388.exe
Linux image files: centos-5.5-i386-bin-dvd.iso
Warm tip: The above software downloads generally will not have problems, but sometimes Baidu network will automatically cancel the sharing link, if this situation, as long as the blog message to inform, I will again hit the download link.
VMware installation
The installation of VMware seems to be nothing to say, all the way to the next step is OK.
Linux-centos Operating System Installation
Earlier, VMware has been installed and installed on this basis to run VMware.
Go to the VMware Workstation home page, click "New Virtual Machine", pop up the new Virtual Machine Wizard, select "Select Criteria", and then next.
Because I am installed with a mirrored file, select the installation disk image file, browse to the image file, such as D:cent05-5.5centos-5.5-i386-bin-dvd.iso
Next, enter easy install information, here according to their own situation to fill in, the following is the information I filled out
Easy Install
Full name cent05-5.5
User name w3note2014
Password abc123456
Note: Here is the need to note that the user name and password as far as possible to set the complexity of this, or will eject the device is too simple related information.
Next, name the virtual machine
cent05-5.5 (if multiple virtual systems are installed, this is the only way to avoid mixing)
d:cent05-5.5 (mirrored file installation directory, if need to backup, direct replication is OK)
Next, specify the disk capacity, here I choose the default space 20G, if your hard disk is large, you can set a larger.
Next, you will select the installation information previously set, and if you want to modify it, you can reset it here. If there is no problem, click Finish.
The virtual system enters the installer, which is no different from installing cent05-5.5 on a computer. In the automatic installation process, will pop up a conversation box, asked whether to detect the integrity of the image file, is the choice of OK, no choice skip, here to choose Skip.
Then enter the CentOS installation window interface and click Next
Enter the language selection interface, choose Simplified Chinese here, then proceed to the next step, choose Install CentOS.
Next, and then pops up a warning--about removing Linux partitions ... Click Yes, and then go to the next step,
Here, select "Create a custom partition structure", click Next, then enter the hard disk's partition interface, here is the focus of CentOS installation, as shown in the following figure
This is the interface without any partitions, you need to partition, you may need to use the following features button, such as:
NEW: Create a new section
Edit: Make changes by selecting the partition that is already set up above
Delete: Select the above partition to delete it
Before partitioning, you need to understand some basic knowledge of Linux partitions, the necessary partition of Linux system has the following two kinds
1, Root partition/
2. Swap partition
Other partitions can be divided according to needs
Linux partitions
Next we divide the root partition, click New, and then go to the Add partition interface, as shown in the figure:
mount point Select "/", File system type select ext3; the root partition size is based on the hard disk capitalization, here I fill in 10000, and then confirm that the root division has been partitioned well.
Next, divide the swap partition, click to build, mount point select "Swap" (when selected, it will automatically display as "Not applicable"), file system type Select Swap, partition size I fill 1024M here, as shown in the figure:
Click OK, here, we have the Linux Department of the necessary root partition and swap partition well, but I want to divide a little bit, such as I want to row a partition, specifically to run the site project, the name is called the Web bar, how to divide?
In the same way, first click New, and then fill in Mount point where Wed, file system type selection ext3, partition size fill 5000, as shown in the figure
In addition, create a new partition test to do the experiment, how to divide, it is needless to say?
Okay, here I've divided a root partition, a swap partition, a Web partition for a stored web site, and a test partition.
Click Next, here is the default, and then the next step, into the network settings interface, where I keep the default state, and then into the next step, time zone settings, the default is "Asia/Shanghai", continue to the next step.
Enter the root account to set the administrator password, preferably containing the digital English, they are easy to remember, but not too simple.
After setting it up, go to the next step, here are multiple options, according to my needs, I chose Desktop-gnome, Desktop-kde, Server and Server-gui, then next.
To proceed to the next step, click Next, start the installer, and then click Reboot to complete the installation.
Start the Linux system into the desktop, and complete the installation.
Summary : The entire Linux installation process takes about one hours, focusing on the Linux partition, and the rest of the steps are as mechanized as installing other applications.
