However, the system is changed to Ubuntu 10.10 virtualbox and upgraded to 4. You can directly read DMG.

After the installation is complete, the memory must be 1 gb cpu must be one core; otherwise, it cannot be started.

This problem was not found on Windows.

First, the previous graph...

Preparation

First, we recommend that you prepare a host with sufficient configuration. The following are my machine configurations and operating systems:

  • CPU: Intel e8400 3.0ghz dual-core processor
  • Memory: 4.00 GB (3.37gb available)
  • Operating System: Windows 7 Enterprise Edition (32-bit)

At first, my machine only had 2 GB of memory, and the OS X Virtual Machine occupied 1 GB of memory, so the remaining 1 GB of memory became too limited. If you need to open some development tools or large applications such as Visual Studio, word, and outlook, you will find that Memory Page breaks are very frequent and unbearable. However, when the memory is increased to 4 GB, the situation will be greatly improved, and the impact of virtual machines is almost invisible compared with the previous one. Therefore, we recommend that you prepare at least 3 GB of memory space, otherwise the subsequent experience will be compromised.

After the snow leopard system is installed, it will occupy more than 9 GB of hard disk space. If you need to develop on the above, you may also need to install xcode, ios sdk and other toolkit, they are all solid-built big head, one set will also occupy nearly 10 Gb of hard disk, therefore, we recommend that you retain around 30 GB of hard disk space to avoid future embarrassment.

In the software section, the new version of virtualbox is also required. I use the latest 3.2.8 r64453. You can download the latest version from the official website. Naturally, you also need to install a DVD or image file for Mac OS x 10.6 snow leopard (do not ask where I can get it ). In addition, because the EFI bootloader provided by virtualbox can only be properly guided when OS X is used as the host, we also need empireefiv1085.iso. You can download the 32-bit intel or AMD version based on your CPU, for 64-bit Intel processors, you can use the legacyempire_efi1085.iso file in the compressed package.

Now everything is ready.

Create virtual machine configuration

The Chinese translations of virtualbox and snow leopard can both be described as coffee tables. Therefore, both of them are in English.

First, you need to create a virtual machine configuration, set a name (snow leopard), and select the appropriate operating system (Mac OS x) and version (Mac OS X Server ):

Select at least 1024 MB memory:

In the select disk wizard, create a 30 GB Virtual Disk (if the hard disk space permits, it is recommended to create a fixed-size virtual disk, which is helpful for performance. Naturally, this will take some time to create a virtual disk. Please wait ):

Check the information and create the Virtual Machine Configuration:

Right-click the created virtual machine or use the machine menu to enter the settings panel. First, select the system item on the left, adjust the boot sequence on the right (drive first and then hard disk), and cancel the default selected enable EFI option (we will use the downloaded empireefiv1085.iso for boot):

Select the display item on the left to maximize the video memory modulation and enable 3D acceleration:

Now, the virtual machine configuration is complete.

Install the system

First, we use empireefiv1_5.iso for guidance. In the settings panel, select the storage item on the left and select the image for guidance on the right:

Start the VM. Wait until the following page is displayed:

Load the snow leopard installation disk as prompted. Wait for a moment (let the Virtual Machine identify and load the image) and click F5. Then, you will find the installation disk of Max OS X shown below the central disc logo:

Press enter and press any key as prompted. Wait a moment and the Installation Wizard Page of snow leopard appears:

Select a language and follow the wizard until you select this step for disk installation. The optional disk list is blank:

Select Disk utility from the utilities menu above, select the disk on the left, and enter the erase column on the right. Then select the correct File System (Mac OS extended, case-sensitive, journaled ):

Click erase to format the disk, disable Disk utility, and select the formatted disk as the installation target:

Click the Install button to start installation. Please wait:

Finally, the installation failure prompt is displayed:

But don't worry. In fact, the snow leopard system has been installed. In this case, you can click the restart button, but the system does not restart normally and will remain in the message "Mach reboot. You need to reload empireefiv1085.iso, and manually select the reset item in the machine menu of the VM console to force the restart (in this case, the VM may prompt a serious error and exit. Restart ):

At this time, you will re-enter the previous boot interface, but you will find that one more startup item is the installed operating system:

Right-click the keyboard to switch to the new item and press Enter. Press any key as prompted. After a moment, the snow leopard language selection interface will be displayed at the first startup:

I chose English as the main language of the operating system. Follow the wizard step by step. After setting the keyboard, account, and time zone information (you can skip the step of setting the Apple ID ), finally, you can see the desktop of the snow leopard System (You may jump out of the keyboard recognition wizard and follow the prompts ):

Now you can try the Snow Leopard operating system. It is worth mentioning that you may not be able to use the Operating System menu to shut down and restart the operating system normally. In this case, you only need to use the Virtual Machine menu to force close and start the operating system. Note that you still need empireefiv1_5.iso as the boot during startup.

Update System

Open System profiler and you will find that the current operating system version is Mac OS X 10.6.3 (of course, if you use the latest installation CD, you can skip the next step ):

Enable Software Update to upgrade the operating system. After a period of checks, the system will require an upgrade of the operating system. This will download more than 800 mb of upgrade files, which naturally takes a long wait process. After the upgrade is completed, restart the instance and you will find that the OS has been updated to Mac OS X 10.6.4 (You may find that the names of the machines before and after the upgrade are different, which is caused by my manual modification ):

It is easy to understand. On the surface, it is difficult for you to find out the differences before and after the upgrade.

Adjust resolution

Worker modifies the efigopmode parameter of the virtual machine image, but it does not work after my experiment. The following method is used in the end. First, use the empireefiv1085.iso boot system, stay on the startup mode selection page, switch to the right to the Snow Leopard operating system, and enter the following command:

"Graphics Mode"="1280x1024x32"

For example, pay attention to the command at the bottom left of the image:

Press enter. Then, the resolution of snow leopard is modified successfully. You can also change 1280x1024 to another resolution (not any resolution, the system will adjust it by yourself ). I usually set it to full screen at work and put it on the extended desktop, so I can use two operating systems at the same time:

Looks good, right?
