"Ubuntu-restricted-extras" is a super package installed with: flashplugin-nonfree, gstreamer0.10-plugins-uugly, gstreamer0.10-plugins-uugly-multiverse, msttcorefonts, sun-java6-jre and sun-java6-plugin
Note: w32codecs infringes copyrights because these encodings/decoders are basically full copies of Dynamic Link Libraries (DLLs) attached to various Windows software.
Sudo apt-get install w32codecs
Kubuntu users Note: Technically, only libxine-extracodecs and w32codecs are required for Kaffeine. However, the installation of all these packages will not damage anything, because these packages may also be required by other programs. (For example, Open Office Impress requires a gstreamer plug-in to display a video in the presentation .)
I wanted to install the decoder for the system a few days ago, and accidentally caused Kaffeine to be unable to play all formats.
