As an open-source database, MySQL is an important application in Linux. It is a good platform for beginners. However, the installation on Linux is not as simple as the online tutorial. Unless you have installed all Linux packages on your computer, you will certainly encounter a Perl-DBI problem, I have written my experience in installing MySQL on Redhat Enterprise linux5 to avoid detours.
1. Download MySQL from the MySQL website
MySQL-server-community-5.0.51a-0.rhel5.i386.rpm
MySQL-client-community-5.0.51a.0.rhel5.i386.rpm
Ii. Problems Encountered
1. First, go to the root mode and grant the permission to download the object.
# Chmod 755 MySQL-server-community-5.0.51a-0.rhel5.i386.rpm
# Chmod 755 MySQL-client-community-5.0.51a.0.rhel5.i386.rpm
2. Problems During Installation
When you execute the following command:
# Rpm-IVH MySQL-server-community-5.0.51a-0.rhel5.i386.rpm
If an error occurs, a Perl-DBI error occurs.
3. Solution
If you search online, you may not find the appropriate version. You can find it directly on the RedHat Enterprise linux5 installation disk. If the DVD installation disk is in the server directory, if it is CD, it is in the server disk of the second disk.
Find perl-DBI-1.52-1.fc6.i386.rpm
Perl-DBD-MySQL-3.0007-1.fc.i386.rpm
Install it.
Iii. Install MySQL
Under Root
# Rpm-IVH MySQL-server-community-5.0.51a-0.rhel5.i386.rpm
# Rpm-IVH MySQL-client-community-5.0.51a.0.rhel5.i386.rpm
Run
# Mysql-uroot
