Install PPStream network TV in Linux

1. Download all required software packages

After the rpmfusion repository is configured, install necessary dependent software and compilation tools:

Run the following command on the terminal:

Su-c 'yum install gcc-c ++ glibc-devel intltool python-devel gstreamer-ffmpeg gstreamer-plugins-bad gstreamer-plugins-ugg'

2. Install PPStream for Linux

Open the terminal in the directory where releaseforubuntu. tgz is placed and execute the following commands in sequence:

 
 

  
  
tar xf releaseforubuntu.tgz  
  
  
cd releaseforubuntu/  
  
  
su -c ‘cp -v ppscdn_config.ini /etc’  
  
  
tar xf libsforubuntu.tgz  
  
  
su -c ‘cp -av libs/libppsso /usr/lib’ 
 
 

3. Compile and install the PPS package library libppswarpper

Open the terminal in the directory where libppswarpper is placed and execute the following commands in sequence:

 
 

  
  
tar xf libppswrapper-*.tar.gz  
  
  
cd libppswrapper-*  
  
  
./configure –prefix=/usr  
  
  
make  
  
  
su -c ‘make install’ 
 
 

4. Compile and install the Gstreamer PPS plug-in gst-plugins-pps

Open the terminal in the directory where the gst-plugins-pps is placed and execute the following commands in sequence:

 
 

  
  
tar xf gst-plugins-pps-*.tar.gz  
  
  
cd gst-plugins-pps-*  
  
  
./configure –prefix=/usr  
  
  
make  
  
  
su -c ‘make install’ 
 
 

5. Compile and install the Totem movie player PPS plug-in totem-pps

In the totem-pps directory, open the terminal and execute the following commands in sequence:

 
 

  
  
tar xf totem-pps-*.tar.gz  
  
  
cd totem-pps-*  
  
  
./configure –prefix=/usr  
  
  
make  
  
  
su -c ‘make install’ 
 
 

6. Enable PPStream sidebar in Totem movie player

Open the movie player, find "PPStream Browser" in "edit"-"plug-in", and tick it.

Click the sidebar to view the PPStream content from the drop-down menu.

So far, the installation is complete.

How to play?

Method 1: Search for interesting content in PPStream in the movie player and double-click it to play the video.

Method 2: View PPS online videos and select content of interest on the website. Right-click "client playback" in the lower right corner of the playback window and select "Copy link address ". Open the movie player and select "movie"-"Open Location". The link address will be automatically copied to it. Click "Open Location.

Method 3: Install Greasemonkey extension for Firefox, and then use the script written by liu. wanfang to view the website directly on the PPS online video.
