Because of work requirements, we need to install RedHat Enterprise AS4, which has never been installed with linux before. At first, we remember to install XTeam Linux at university, I remember that after I installed the system, I thought it was very troublesome to uninstall it. After a few years, I encountered another problem with Linux. It was a fate :-)
After several days of exploration, I finally got into the RedHad installation interface. While RedHat is still installing in my notebook, I wrote down the installation steps on my desktop, I hope to give some reference to new users who are new to Linux. I hope this will help you.
Steps for installing RedHat Enterprise AS4 on an iso Hard Disk:
1. Download the CD image file (with the ISO Extension). There are four files in total. I downloaded it from the following address:
Http://ftp.chinalinuxpub.com/redhat/ISO/4AS/RHEL4-i386-AS-disc2.iso
Http://ftp.chinalinuxpub.com/redhat/ISO/4AS/RHEL4-i386-AS-disc3.iso
Http://ftp.chinalinuxpub.com/redhat/ISO/4AS/RHEL4-i386-AS-disc4.iso
2. Prepare disk partitions for ReaHad. Generally, if a 4G or above partition is mounted, the swap partition is twice the memory of your machine.
Because my machine was previously WinXP, there is another area.
Use the PartitionMagic software for partitioning: first, a new partition at the ship level, with a size of 12 GB, and then delete the partition. Our disk has an unallocated space. We
In this unallocated space for subsequent work, create a SWAP space, the size is 1024 MB, depending on the memory of your machine, usually twice the memory. Create all the remaining space in EXT3 format. Do not change the default value.
3. Download Grub for Dos and search for the corresponding Grub for Dos in google.
4. Decompress all files in the isolinux directory of the first CD image file (RHEL4-i386-AS-disc1.iso. Use WinRAR. I decompress them to the F: \ isolinux directory.
5. Reboot to DOS with the boot disk or MaxDos.
6.execute grubin in the DOS system prompt, and upload the grub.exe file that you just downloaded. The system prompt is grub>. You can run the help command to check it.
Enter the following command ,:
Root (hd0, X)
This X refers to a number in the hard disk partition where the isolinux directory you extract is located, 5 indicates the drive C, 6 indicates the drive d, 7 indicates the drive E, and so on. Enter root (hda0, and press the TAB key to list all hard disk partitions.
Enter a command to install the Linux kernel:
Kernel/yourpath/vmlinuz
Note: first, use a backslash. Do not write it wrong. Second, yourpath indicates the storage path of the files in the first image on the CD. Do not enter the drive letter, the root command has been transferred to the current disk. For example, ernel/isolinux/vmlinux.
Load the RedHat Installation File and enter the following command:
Initrd/youpath/initrd. img
Run the following command to start installation:
Boot
7. Choose to install from the hard disk, and then select the disk partition of your CD image file. The hda5 is a drive C, the hda6 is a drive D, and so on. Enter the path of your ISO file. Put the four ISO files in the F: \ redhat Directory and select hda8. The input path is/redhat /.
Click "Next" and select the default language "Chinese". The remaining installation interface is Chinese. The installation method is the same as that of other Linux systems. If you do not understand the installation method, search for it online. I will not say much about it. If you still don't understand it, ask me :-)
Make sure that the root directory of the ISO file does not have a Chinese directory or a Chinese file name. Otherwise, the installation always prompts "serio: kseriod exiting" and restarts automatically. I used to have a few Chinese-named files in my drive. I tried n multi-coding and finally found out that everyone must pay attention to this problem.
Now, let's write it here. The redhad installation is not over yet. Let's take a look. Do you know if redhat has a function similar to ghost?
