Iii. Prepare for Sybase Installation
1. Use SCO Admin → Hardware → Video Manager to adjust the screen resolution to 1024x768.
2. Adjust the screen font to 3 through the control panel font settings
3. Use SCO Admin → Account Manager to join a sybase User Group
4. Use SCO Admin → Account Manager to add a sybase user. The default home directory is/home/sybase, And the login group is sybase.
5. Log On With a sybase user
6. Adjust the screen font to 3 through the control panel font settings.
7. Log On with root
8. Set sybase user logon options:
Edit and modify/home/sybase/. env and add two lines:
SYBASE/sybase
DSQUERY sybserver where sybserver represents the name of the SYBASE server and needs to be modified according to the actual situation. Generally, the name of the SYBASE server is the same as that of the server host)
Edit and modify/home/sybase/. dtprofile to remove the # sign before the last line:
# DTSOURCEPROFILE = true remove the # sign before this line)
Edit and modify/home/sybase/. profile in PATH = $ PATH ...... Add the following content at the end of the line:
: $ SYBASE/install: $ SYBASE/bin. After modification, the row content may be:
PATH = $ PATH:/usr/sbin:/usr/java/bin:.: $ SYBASE/install: $ SYBASE/bin
And move the row and the export path line after the row to the end of the file.
9. Set the root user logon option:
Edit and modify/. dtprofile. The content of the last few lines is as follows:
# DTSOURCEPROFILE = true
SYBASE =/sybase
DSQUERY = sybserver where sybserver represents the SYBASE server name and needs to be modified according to actual conditions. Generally, the SYBASE server name is the same as the server host name)
PATH = $ PATH: $ SYBASE/install: $ SYBASE/bin
Export SYBASE DSQUERY PATH
10. Create a SYBASE directory
# Cd/
# Mkdir/sybase
# Chown sybase/sybase
# Chgrp sybase/sybase
11. Create a SYBASE installation directory. skip this step if you install SYBASE directly from CDROM)
# Cd/
# Mkdir/sybsetup
# Chown sybase/sybsetup
# Chgrp sybase/sybsetup
Follow these steps to grant the root user FTP access:
A. in SCO admin → Networking → FTP Server Manager, select View/Denied users, click the root row in the list, and select Edit/Delete to Delete the row.
B. Edit and modify/etc/shells and remove the # sign before/sbin/sh.
Log on to the server using FTP on the background PC as sybase), and upload all the files and directories on the SYBASE installation disk to the/sybsetup directory.
Run the following command to change the file attributes.
# Cd/sybsetup
# Chmod 777 sybsetup
# Chmod 777 sybload
12. After the SYBASE data file directory is created, the data device files in the SYBASE system will be stored in this directory)
# Cd/
# Mkdir/sybdata
# Chown sybase/sybdata
# Chgrp sybase/sybdata
