1. Install Windows Server 2008 on the test computer.
2. Install the application on Windows Server 2008. If you are prompted for permission to install the application, click Allow and continue with the installation. If the installation is successful, go to step 6.
3. If the application installation fails and the installation permission prompt does not appear, right-click the EXE installer and select "Run this program as administrator" to reinstall the application. If the installation is successful, go to step 6.
Note If you use MSI for installation, you do not need to perform this step.
4. If you receive an error such as OS version, CLSID registration, or file copy, right-click the EXE installer file, select the Compatibility tab, and then select Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1) Compatibility mode.
5. Back to step 2. If you cannot install the application, go to step 9.
6. The application should now complete the installation.
7. Start the application. If the application does not start properly or displays an error, apply the Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1) Compatibility mode for the application EXE and try again.
8. If the application starts successfully, traverse the complete set of tests that are typically used to test applications on Windows Server 2003 (Service Pack 1). Verify the functionality of the application and verify that the application is functioning properly. If all major features pass the test, go to step 10.
9. If the application installation and startup is unsuccessful, crashes, errors, or fails to pass major functional tests, a small number of applications may be affected by changes to Windows Server 2008.
10. The programme was completed.
