Install the Active Directory domain service

This document does not describe the role of an ad DS server in detail, but only describes the installation of an ad DS server;

For an overview of AD ds, see overview of Active Directory domain services.

In the Server Manager, click"Manage"And then click"Add roles and functions"To start the Add role Wizard:

On the "before start" page, click "Next ".

On the "Select installation type" page, click "role-based or function-based installation", and then click "Next ".

On the "select target server" page, click "Select Server from server pool", click the name of the server to which ad DS is to be installed, and then click "Next ".

On the "Select Server role" page, click "Active Directory domain service", and then click "add function" in the "add role and function wizard" dialog box ", click "Next ".

On the "select feature" Page, select any additional features to be installed, and then click "Next ".

On the "Active Directory domain service" Page, view the information and click "Next ".

On the confirm installation of the selected content page, click Install ".

Wait until installation is complete

On the results page, verify that the installation is successful, and then click upgrade to Domain Server to start the Active Directory domain service Configuration Wizard.

Install the New Forest, and click"Add new forest", Type the name of the root domain, and then click "Next"

To create a new forest or domain, select the domain function level and forest function level, click "Domain Name System (DNS) server", specify the dsrm password, and then click "Next ".

In"DNS options"Page, click "Next"

On the "Other Options" Page, verify the default NetBIOS Name of the domain, and then click "Next ".

On the "path" Page, type the location of the Active Directory database, log file, and sysvol folder (or accept the default location), and then click "Next ".

On the "view options" Page, confirm the selection and click "Next ".

On the prerequisite check page, confirm that prerequisite verification is complete and click Install ".

Wait until installation is complete

On the results page, verify that the server has been successfully configured as a domain controller. The server will be automatically restarted to complete the installation of AD Ds.

After the restart, we can see that the tools in the Server Manager already have ad-related management tools.

Some details:

Configure the computer name, IP address, DNS, and other information before installing ad Ds.

Creden required for installation:

• To install the new forest, you must log on as the local administrator of the computer.

• To install a new subdomain or new domain tree, you must log on as a member of the enterprise admins group.

• To install other domain controllers in an existing domain, you must be a member of the Domain Admins group.

In Windows Server 2012, the dcpromo command cannot be upgraded to a domain controller;
