Install the. NET Framework 3.5 on Windows 8 or 8.1

If you are using a Windows operating system, the. NET Framework may already be installed on your computer. Specifically, the. NET Framework 4 .5 is included with Windows 8 and is installed on your computer with the Windows 8 operating system.   Similarly, the. NET Framework 4.5.1 is included with Windows 8.1.

　　Important: download of the. NET Framework 3.5 for Windows 8 or Windows 8.1 is not available. You must follow the instructions provided in this article to enable the. NET Framework 3.5 in Control Panel.

　　If you install an application that requires a specific version of the. NET Framework, the application's setup program may install or prompt you to install the. NET Framework on your computer.for example, the. NET Framework 3.5 does not automatically install with Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. to run applications that require the. NET Framework 3.5 on Windows 8 or later, you must enable version 3.5 on the computer. You can do this in two ways: by installing or running an application that requires the. NET Framework 3.5 (that is, installing the. NET Framework 3.5 as needed), or by enabling the. NET Framework 3.5 in Control Panel. Both of these options require an Internet connection.

In general, you should not uninstall any version of the. NET Framework from your computer, because the application you use may depend on a specific version and may be interrupted after you remove the version. You can load multiple versions of the. NET Framework simultaneously on a single computer.   This means that you do not have to uninstall the old version for the update to be installed.  

Important notes:

• Use the. NET Framework 3.5 for applications that are built for versions 2.0, 3.0, and 3.5.

• Installing the Windows language pack prior to installing the. NET Framework 3.5 could cause the. NET Framework 3.5 installation to fail. before you install any Windows language packs, install the. NET Framework 3.5.

• Windows CardSpace is not available with the. NET Framework 3.5 on Windows 8.

　　

Install the. Net Framework 3.5 On Demand

　　If the application requires the. NET Framework 3.5, but does not find an enabled version on your computer, the following message box is displayed when you install or when you run the application for the first time. Install This feature to enable the. NET Framework 3.5. ' data-guid= ' A24d6113d541ae3547840b6a70800e3d ' & gt; In the message box, select Install this feature to enable the. NET Framework 3.5. This option requires an Internet connection.

tip install the. NET Framework 3.5 On Demand      enable the. NET Framework 3.5 in Control Panel    You can also enable the. NET Framework 3.5 yourself through Control Panel. Programs and Features, chooseTurn Windows features on or off, and then select the. NET Framework 3.5 (includes. NET 2.0 and 3.0)check box. NET Framework 3.5 As needed or if you enable it in Control Panel, you receive one of the following error messages:

• 0x800f0906:" Windows cannot connect to the Internet to download the necessary files. Make sure you are connected to the Internet, and then click ' Retry ' to try again. "  

• 0x800f081f:" The change cannot be completed. Please restart your computer and try again. "  

These messages may be displayed for the following reasons:

• your computer is not connected to the Internet. please connect, and then retry the operation.

  If you can't connect to the Internet, you can use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) command-line tool and specify that Windows 8 is installed from installation media (ISO image or DVD) to enable the. NET Framework 3.5.
