Install Ubuntu on a USB flash drive

The newly bought y470, who wanted to install a Linux instance, had struggled for several days, installed it three times, and finally got it done.

I started to want to install a stable disk. I found a ubuntu10.04 disk. After the disk was installed, there was no problem except that I could not access the internet. It may be because the configuration is not complete, but it won't work until one afternoon.

I found Zhang ubuntu10.10 in the evening and used it on my desktop. It should be okay. After the installation is complete, everything is OK, that is, the graphics card driver is not very good, there has been a drag (because y470 is a dual-graphics card, the default is set display, Linux does not seem to have a dual-graphics switch, you can only use the set display function. It seems that switching the Y series dual-graphics card is a chicken fault. Whoever is idle and has nothing to do is always switching the video card ). So I updated the driver and crashed after I restarted it. I had to go to a black screen instead of the desktop. I checked it from the Internet and said it was a resolution problem. After the adjustment, I still couldn't do it. I tried n methods and still couldn't get in, so I had to go to bed first.

I went to buy a computer with my classmates the next day. I was still struggling along the way. I was installing a 10.10 Update driver or changing the latest 11.04. He also needs to install Linux, saying that it is too troublesome and cost-effective to use a USB flash drive.

I tried it in the evening. I will write the process below.

1. Of course, you must first prepare a USB flash drive with at least 2 GB space. I have prepared a 2 GB USB flash drive.

2. Download and install
Universal USB Installer (uuui ),

3. Of course you need to install the Linux System ISO image file, I prepared ubuntu-11.04 desktop version of the ISO file ubuntu-11.04-desktop-i386.iso. You can download it from the official website.

4. Double-click the icon to openProgram(The use and operation of the software must be performed in windows.) Of course, we should check their licenses and click "I agree" to agree.

 

5. If you
The CD image and uuui of ubuntu are placed in the same directory.
It will be automatically discovered and loaded, otherwise you need to first select the Ubuntu type and version to be installed in the first drop-down list;

In the second selection box, browse and find the Ubuntu CD image;

Step 3: select the disk you want to use from the drop-down list. You must not select an incorrect disk. Otherwise, the result is very serious. If you select the check box for formatting the disk later, the result will be more serious;

In the last step, select the writable area to be retained on the USB flash drive for later software installation. Of course, the premise is that your USB flash drive is large enough.

 

6. Two warning screens. If the preceding execution is correct, click "yes.

 

7. The write process to the USB flash drive is slow, just as it is dead, and the progress bar remains unchanged for a while. But I will tell you that it is never dead. Please wait, because the software says "please be patient ...".

 

8. The progress bar is finally installed. OK, remove the USB flash drive, restart the system to enter the BIOS settings, and choose to start from the USB device. It is no longer here. Most machines are different.

9. after starting the USB flash drive, the following interface will be displayed. We can select "Run Ubuntu fromthis USB" to run Ubuntu directly on the USB flash drive or install Ubuntu on a hard disk. After the selection, press enter to enter the brilliant
In ubuntu, double-click the desktop and click Install Ubuntu 11.04t in the upper left corner to install ubuntu. The installation process is the same as that on the CD.

Note the following for a single system:/, swap,/tmp,/home, which is mounted in this order. The average number of head shift arm is small, and the overall read/write performance is better.

No matter how swap partition is retained, it is necessary (even if you have 4 GB of physical memory, it is best to leave some SWAP). Some application software may not respond well without swap partition.
