Install the WebKit-based browser Midori-general Linux technology-Linux technology and application information from the source. The following is a detailed description. As we all know, Firefox uses the Gecko engine for web page layout, while IE uses Trident as its web page layout engine.
Later, the KDE team found the KHTML-based Konqueror engine and gained user recognition. Apple then carried forward KHTML and launched Safari, a browser equipped with the KHTML improved WebKit engine. It also received a very good response.
WebKit is an excellent lightweight browser typographical engine. We had to install Konqueror before, because WebKit does not have its Gtk + encapsulated version, therefore, there is no WebKit-based browser on GNOME Desktop.
But now all this is over. Let's get started with a lightweight Gtk + browser using WebKit as the typographical engine in Ubuntu-Midori!
First, add the source. After adding this source, you can enjoy the latest Midori at any time. Open the terminal and execute:
Sudo gedit/etc/apt/sources. list
If you do not want to study the source code, add the first line:
Deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/stemp/ubuntu gutsy main
Deb-src http://ppa.launchpad.net/stemp/ubuntu gutsy main
Save the file and update the list:
Sudo apt-get update
Last installed:
Sudo apt-get install midori
Soon the installation is complete. Click "application"> "Internet"> "Midori" to start it!
It is really resource-saving and fast! This is another experience for me who are used to Firefox!
