2.1 The steps to install a DHCP server are as follows:
Step 1 Start the Add/Remove Programs dialog box
Step 2 Click Add/Remove Windows components appears the Windows Components Wizard click Next to appear in the Windows Components dialog box Select Network Services from the list as shown in Figure 2
Step 3 Click Details and select Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) from the list as shown in Figure 3 Click OK
Step 4 Click "Next" to enter the path to the installation source file for Windows2000 Server, and click OK to begin the installation of the DHCP service
Step 5 Click Finish, and when you go back to the Add/Remove Programs dialog box, click the Close button

2.2 Adding a DHCP server
After the DHCP service is installed, the user must first add an authorized DHCP server and add scopes to the server to set the appropriate IP address range and option type so that the DHCP client can obtain the IP address lease and the setting parameters for the associated options when logging on to the network.
To add a DHCP server, follow these steps:
Step 1 Start the DHCP Management console, as shown in Figure 4
Step 2, select Add Server from the Action menu, start the Add Server Wizard click Next to appear in the Specify DHCP Server dialog box, if you click the Browse button, the servers in the directory are authorized, and the user can add authorization to the DHCP server, click the Add button, The authorize DHCP server form appears as shown in Figure 5, filling in the name or IP address of the server to which the user wants to establish a DHCP service.
Step 3 Select the server added in the previous step in the server authorized in Directory dialog box, click manage → next → complete
The server you just added appears in the DHCP management console

2.3 Adding scopes to the DHCP server
Step 1 Click the server in the DHCP console to which you want to add a scope → action → new → scope → appearance create Scope wizard
Step 2 Click Next and then enter the role Domain Name dialog box here for the domain name
Step 3 Click Next to enter the address that the scope will assign to service several subnet masks as shown in Figure 7
Step 4 Click Next to enter the address service you want to exclude in the Add Exclusion dialog box

Step 5 Click Next to select the lease duration (default is 8 days)
Step 6 Click Next to select the Configure DHCP option

Step 7 Click Next to enter the default gateway IP address.
Step 8 Enter the domain name and the IP address of the DNS server
As shown in Figure 10
Step 9 Click Next to add the address of the WINS server.
Step 10 Click Next to select the activation scope
Step 11 A newly added scope appears in the DHCP console, as shown in Figure 11, the status bar in the form on the right of the DHCP console shows "running" to indicate that the scope is enabled.
Set up, when the DHCP client starts, you can obtain the IP address lease and option settings from the DHCP server.
