First, why install GNS3
In short, it is a graphical front-end for dynamips, which is easier to use and more operable than a virtual software that uses dynamips directly. A more important point is that many of the experiments that are not implemented or completed on Cisco Packet Tracer by a number of Cisco Labs can be done well on GNS3.
Second, installation environment
1. System version: Windows 10 1803 Pro (other systems also available)
2. Client version: Gns3-2.1.7-all-in-one
3. Virtual machine software version: VMware Workstation Pro 14.1.3 build-9474260
4.IOU Virtual machine version: gns3.vm.vmware.workstation.2.1.7
Third, installation step (i) Import IOU virtual machine
For installing the VMware Workstations software, please look for installation methods and tutorials in Baidu, where installation methods are no longer described here.
1. Locate the OVA file for the IOU virtual machine and double-click Open.
Modify the virtual machine name and location as needed. (because my personal computer e disk space is large, so I put the virtual machine on the e-disk).
2. Upgrading virtual Machines
Click "Upgrade this virtual machine"
Select "Workstation 14.X" when selecting virtual machine hardware compatibility, and other options are set according to your preferences.
3. Edit the virtual machine
Click "Edit Virtual machine settings" To set up the virtual machine, mainly to set up CPU and memory, the CPU must turn on virtualization. Memory is allocated based on the memory of the personal computer. (My notebook memory is 12G so I give IOU memory 6G, if the computer memory for 4G recommended IOU to 2G can)
4. Edit the IP parameters of the IOU
You can use DHCP or you can use a static IP address. Static IP Address setting method:
Send the mouse to IOU, click anywhere on the virtual machine, or use the shortcut key (ctrl+g) and press ENTER.
Select the Networking option to press ENTER.
Press ENTER directly to change the IP address to take effect after you restart.
Because my virtual network card address is the address of 172.20.21.0/24, so set as the address in the diagram, you should set the address according to their own virtual network card address settings. Virtual network card Address view method:
Open the cmd command line to run the ipconfig command to view the address of the Ethernet Adapter VMware network Adapter VMNET1:, set the address of the same segment as the NIC, but the gateway is set to X.X.X.2.
After the modification is completed, press Ctrl+x to exit, enter the y/y key to save and press any key to restart the system. After starting to see whether you set the address or stay in the start screen for a long time, this is because the network parameter settings are wrong, need to reset.
(ii) Installing the Client 1. Double-click Software to run:
Modify the Software installation location, other use the default option to install. If you need to install additional software during installation, select Install
(c) Ann Setup Client 1. General Settings:
Set up the firewall and add GNS3 to the trust list.
Start the GNS3 client and double-click Start.
You do not need to initialize GNS for the time being. After entering the GNS3, the settings are more detailed. Select Edit and open Preferences ... For detailed setup.
Sets information such as where the project is stored and where the software is configured to reside.
Set dynamips image storage location
Configuring the device command line using the tool, I am accustomed to using the CRT, so a CRT is set up as an example.
2. Service Setup (Server)
Enable local services, select the Multi-box in front of the Enable locally server, and do not need to modify other parameters.

IOU need to load license verification pass before starting the system normally start experimenting, loading IOURC files
