Installation of Distributed File system

The Configuring Distributed File system, DFS, is used to centrally manage shared folders scattered across the network, allowing users to think of files scattered across multiple servers as if they were stored in the same location on the network. The user does not need to know the actual location of the file, it can make it easier for users to find their own required files.

    DFS dfs namespace ( dfs namespaces dfs copy ( dfs Replication ). Two components can operate independently of each other and do not need to be used together.

• DFS name Space you can combine shared folders that reside on different servers into the namespace of one or more logical structures. Each namespace is displayed to the user as a single shared folder with a series of subfolders. However, the basic structure of a namespace can contain a large number of file shares located on different servers and in multiple sites.

• DFS replication allows you to effectively replicate folders on multiple servers and sites, including thoseDFSthe Namespace Path reference folder). DFSreplication uses a type of remote differential compression called(RDC)compression algorithm. RDCdetects changes to the data in the file and makesDFSreplication replicates only the changed file blocks, not the entire file.

DFS installation

1 , open Server Manager and select "Add Roles and Features";

2 , in the "Before you start" screen, select "Next";

3 , select the default setting in the Installation Type tab, and select Next;

4 , select the server where the role is installed in server selection, and select Next;

5. In the Server Roles tab, tick "File server, DFS Replication, DFS namespace, and data deduplication";

6 , when checked, the "Add Roles and Features Wizard" dialog box will appear, and select "Add Features";

8 , select "Next" in the "Features" tab;

9 , in the "Confirmation" tab, select the role of some confirmation information, choose "Install";

Ten , after the installation is complete, select "Close";
