PBS is one of the most versatile, oldest and most widely supported local resource managers. PBS currently includes three main branches of OPENPBS,PBS Pro and torque. OPENPBS is the first PBS system, there is no much follow-up development, PBS PRO is PBS commercial version, the most functional. Torque is an open-source version of the clustering company that took over OPENPBS and gave subsequent support.

Environment

We have only three nodes here to do a simple experiment.

Note 2: Torque users on three systems, I've configured SSH without password to log on to each other

torque$ Ssh-keygen generates the key public key, copies the contents of the home directory. Ssh/id_rsa.pub to other systems and copies the content to Authorized_keys.

Note 3:torque configured as SSH without password landing, is mainly used to submit tasks.

Installation

Download software to http://www.clusterresources.com/.

To perform installation configuration on server.torque.com

Extract torque-2.4.0b1.tar.gz using torque user

and execute the following command:

torque$ CD TORQUE-2.4.0B1

torque$./configure

torque$ make

Then switch to root user execution

root# make Install

Note 1:torque will install some of the configuration files under/var/spool/torque.

Next we switch back to the torque user to generate the package for the client installation, that is, the packages installed on Node1 and Node2 (provided that Node1, Node2, and server platform are the same)

torque$ Make Packages

And then switch back to the root user.
