This afternoon, I just installed the wireless network card I bought. First, the system is redhat9 and the kernel is 2.4.20. A linux driver is downloaded from the Internet, but the compilation is incorrect. The reason is that the kernel version is old. I have another kernel 2.6.15 in redhat, Which is started and compiled. There is no error. The process is as follows:
Tar-xvzf RT73_Linux_STA_Drv1.0.4.0.tar.gz (unzip the document)
Cd RT73_Linux_STA_Drv1.0.4.0/Module (enter the decompressed Module Directory)
2> cp Makefile.6./Makefile (select the makefile document of the 2.6 kernel to overwrite and replace the makefile document in the current directory)
4> make all (compile driver)
5> cp rt73.bin/etc/Wireless/RT73STA/(copy the rt73.bin file in the current directory to the/etc/Wireless/RT73STA directory. Note: the/etc/Wireless/RT73STA directory does not exist. You need to create it using mkdir .)
6> dos2unix rt73sta. dat (convert the rt73sta. dat file in the current directory to the unix file format. If the tool dos2unix is not available, use yum to download

7> cp rt73sta. dat/etc/Wireless/RT73STA/rt73sta. dat (copy the converted rt73sta. dat to/etc/Wireless/RT73STA)
8> make install (install the driver. In this way, the system automatically loads the driver after each startup, instead of manually loading the driver every time)
After the restart, the wireless Nic is detected, but it is still unavailable.
Vi/etc/Wireless/RT73STA/rt73sta. dat (rt73sta. dat is the configuration document automatically read after the driver is loaded, including the SSID, channel, and encryption password)
Modify the SSID and Channel options of this document. These two values are consistent with the configuration in your wireless router. If the router is configured with encryption, you also need to change the following options, whose values are listed below:
AuthMode = OPEN/SHARED/WEPAUTO/WPAPSK/WPA2PSK/WPA/WPA2 (select the Authentication mode based on the actual situation. If it is encrypted by WPA/WPA2, you have to compile the things in the WPA_Supplicant directory. If you haven't tried to install them here, you won't talk about it .)
EncrypType = NONE/WEP/AES/TKIP (select the encryption algorithm based on the actual situation)
DefaultKeyID = 1/2/3/4 (which key is selected by default, based on the actual situation)
Key1Str = value (key, which must be consistent with that on the router)
Key1Type = 0/1 (0 indicates the hexadecimal password, and 1 indicates the ascii password)
WPAPSK = value (this is the password in wpa-psk Mode)
Save the modification. Here I use TKIP, the encryption mode WPAPSK. Go to the wireless route to view this information. In addition, it is the channel value. After these configurations, you need to change a file:
/Etc/init. d/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-rausb0 restores the commented dhcp line so that the address can be allocated dynamically.

PS does not need to restart the computer. restart the NIC command:/etc/init. d/network restart.
