Nightingale is an open-source multimedia player based on Songbird. The latest available version is "Nightingale 1.12.1". It was recently released to fix the wrong version, better integration of Unity and GNOME Shell, and supports Ubuntu 14.04 and derivative versions, such as Linux Mint 17.

Software Installation is convenient because PPA is available.
Unity and Gnome shell users
Open the terminal and enter the following command:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nightingaleteam/nightingale-release
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nightingale
Uninstall command:
sudo apt-get remove nightingale
KDE, LXDE, and XFCE users
Open the terminal and enter the following command:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nightingaleteam/nightingale-release
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install nightingale-nounity
Uninstall command:
sudo apt-get remove nightingale-nounity
Remove PPA:
sudo apt-get install ppa-purge
sudo ppa-purge ppa:nightingaleteam/nightingale-release
