Before the notebook installed an Ubuntu, I heard openSUSE is very gorgeous, I choose open suse here.

Take a openSUSE disc and put it in the optical drive.

Then I felt the installation, and found that different from Ubuntu, especially the section.

I chose a way to prepare a portion of the disk space, delete its partition, the system will be installed in this location by default.

SUSE Linux 11 Installation Detail Guide

1. SuSE Linux 11 System installation disk into the optical drive, restart the computer, in the Dell Logo interface Press F12, select CD-ROM boot. We go to the Welcome interface and choose "Welcome" to continue.
 

2. In the pop-up interface, select "Installation" to start the installation.


We can press F2 in this interface and choose "Simplified Chinese" by language language.

3. The interface jumps to the Simplified Chinese version, enters the language and the keyboard layout interface, also may choose the language and the keyboard layout in this interface, chooses "I accept the license clause".


Click "Next" to continue.
4. The Media check page appears. For users using Novell's installation CD-ROM, click Next to skip the start check. But for users who need access to the SUSE Linux system via network channels, it is recommended that you check (click "Start Check"), but the detection process may take a long time.
  


5. "System Detection" phase. The system automatically analyzes hardware devices to ensure that the SUSE Linux system is fully installed on the computer.


6. After the system detection process is complete, eject the "installation Mode" interface, installation mode includes: New installation, update and restore installed system. We select "New Installation" and click "Next" to continue.



7. "Clock and Time zone" selection. Select the default time zone and do not select Set hardware clock to UTC (H). Click "Next" to continue.



8. Enter the "Create new user" interface. You can enter information such as "Full user name" and "password" according to your needs, and then click "Next" to continue.
If you do not want to set the "Root" password individually, it is recommended that you select "Use this password for your system administrator."
  


Note that you enter a user password or set the root password length of at least 5 digits, or the system will prompt the "Password too simple" dialog box.


 
9. "Installation Settings"-Create partitions. We can use the SUSE Linux system provided by the automatic partition, do not click "Change", click "Next", you can use the SUSE default partition mode. You can also make zoning settings to suit your needs.

 

Click "Change", select "Custom partition (Expert only)", and click "Next" to continue.
Note: If you want to customize your partitions, Linux can only set up 3 primary partitions (this article recommends you set up a boot partition, a swap partition, and a root partition; You can also set the primary partition to a different format depending on the actual application), and then only logical partitions.

Select the "Hard drive" in the left column-"SDA" and click "Add".


Let's first describe how to set up three primary partitions, select Primary partition, and click Next to continue.

In custom size, enter the size of the partition you want to set up manually.
/boot boot partition space is set to 100MB-200MB (store Linux startup files),
The/swap partition is set to 2G (recommended to be set to twice times the memory capacity),
/root partition space set to more than 10G, also can be set according to the hard disk capacity needs. (If you no longer set logical partitions, the root partition can be set to the remaining hard disk size).

In the Format partition option, select File system as "Ext3" and go to the partition installation point as "/boot"

We are in the swap partition, but also select the "Hard Disk"-SDA, select the primary partition, in the "Format Partition" option, select "File System" for "swap", to the partition installation point for "swap";.


When dividing the root partition, select: Select "Hard Disk"-SDA, select the primary partition, in the "Format Partition" option, select "File System" as "EXT3", and transfer to the partition installation point as "/";.

When the partition is complete, please click "Finish". We can also choose the software and system tasks according to your needs. Click "Software" and select "Change" to enter the "Software Selection and System Tasks" interface. For example, under "Development", check "C + + compiler and tools." 10. Install the license agreement. Click Install. A number of "Confirm Package Licenses" dialog boxes will be ejected accordingly, click "I agree" in turn.

17. After the installation is complete, reboot the SUSE Linux system and select "SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop ..." in the system boot.
SUSE Linux Enterprise 11 starts loading, you need to type the username and password that you set during Setup before you enter the system.
