- Start the VMware Workstation.
- Click the Create new virtual machine icon in the interface.
- The interface chooses the type of virtual machine to install, including both "typical" and "custom". This recommendation uses a "typical" approach, and then clicks the Next button.
- This interface is used to choose how to install the guest operating system. Here, select "Install operating system later" and click the "Next" button.
- Select the operating system and version that you want to install in this interface. I choose the Linux operating system here, the version of the other Linux 2.6.x kernel 64-bit, and then click the "Next" button.
- In this interface, create a name for the virtual machine and set the location where the virtual machine is installed. When the settings are complete, click the Next button.
- Set the capacity of the disk in this interface. If you have a disk that is large enough, it is recommended that you set a larger disk size to avoid running out of disk capacity. This is set to 50GB, and then click the Next button.
- The interface shows the details of the virtual machine that was created, so you can create the operating system. Then click the Finish button.
- This interface shows the details of the newly created virtual machine. Now you are ready to install Kali Linux. Before installing Kali Linux, you need to set up some information and click "Edit Virtual machine settings" in the VMware Workstation window.
- Select the "Memory" option in this interface, if the physical machine memory is large enough, allocate more memory to the virtual machine. I assign here 2048MB.
- Select the "CD/DVD (IDE)" option in this interface, then select the "Use ISO image file" checkbox on the right, click the "Browse" button and select the Kali liunx image file. Then click the OK button.
- Select the "Turn on this virtual machine" command in the interface and a new window will appear.
- This interface is the Kali Linux boot interface, where you select the installation method. Choose graphical Install (graphical interface installation) here.
- In this interface, select the default language for the installation system is Chinese (Simplified), and then click the Continue button.
- Select the region as "China" in the interface, and then click the "Continue" button.
- Select the keyboard mode as "Chinese" in the interface, then click the "Continue" button.
- After waiting for the load to complete, the interface is used to set the hostname of the system, which uses the default hostname kali (the user can also enter their own system name). Then click the Continue button.
- This interface is used to set the domain name used by the computer, if the current computer is not connected to the network, you can not fill out the domain name, directly click the "Continue" button.
- Set the root user password in this interface and click the Continue button.
- This interface provides user-selectable partitioning. Here, select "Use entire Disk" and click the "Continue" button.
- This interface is used to select the disks to partition. There is only one disk in the system, all of which use the default disk. Then click the Continue button.
- This interface requires you to select a partitioning scheme, which provides three options by default. Here, select "Place all files in the same partition (recommended for Beginners)" and click the "Continue" button.
- Select "Partition settings end and write modifications to disk" in this interface, then click the "Continue" button. If you want to modify the partition, you can select "Undo to Partition Settings IDE modify" In this interface to repartition.
- Select the Yes check box in the interface, and then click the Continue button.
- Start installing the system now. During installation, you need to set up some information, such as setting up a network image, if the computer on which the Kali Linux system is installed is not connected to the network, select the No check box in the interface, and then click the Continue button. Here, select the Yes check box.
- When the scan point is complete, select China, and then click the Continue button.
- The interface provides 10 mirror sites by default, where a mirror site is selected as the system. Select Mirrors.163.com here, then click the "Continue" button.
- Select the Yes check box in the interface, and then click the Continue button.
- The installation continues, and clicking the Continue button returns you to the installation system procedure. After the installation is complete, the system will be restarted automatically.
