installing VMware vCenter Appliance

Vcenter Appliance is a vmware-configured all-in-one virtual machine based on the SUSE system vcenter, which is much easier than installing Windows-based vcenter services, so I chose to deploy vcenter Appliance (abbreviated as Vcapp).

After many experiments, the steps and precautions are as follows:

First, deploy the OVF template

Second, open the virtual machine power after deployment and open the console terminal.

Third, set up vcenter Server, SSO

(a), Vcapp 5.5

1, Vcapp 5.5 system and 5.1/5.0 different, can not set up the network in the terminal, but based on the DHCP mode automatically set up a 192.168.2.xxx URL (each time different), in the console to view the URL, and then use the browser to access the URL

2, after the browser opened, note can only go to set up the network, set Vcapp host domain name and static address, set to complete the save, the browser will not automatically link to the new URL, you enter the address bar just set the URL.

3, if your Vcapp address and domain name belong to the LAN inside, here to a key step, at this time do not open the Setup wizard, back to the console terminal, login to the system (with the default root/vmware), vim/etc/hosts Add a line you just set the Vcapp address point to your Vcapp host domain name, save exit, OK, now go back to the browser, open the Settings Wizard settings.

4, according to their own environment, my local Area network experiment environment, natural database and SSO are embeded, ignoring the network storage, the last step to start the vcenter service, here need to wait a while more time.

5, Vcapp Local user authorization, need to login to the SUSE system in the console to add, useradd the password specified is invalid, you need to use passwd to specify the password. Once the user has been added, they can go to the Web Client for authorization.

6, the top level of authorization is aimed at the Vcapp, if the transmission is selected, Vcapp management of all the host resources are authorized, so should be navigated to the specific objects you want to authorize, such as virtual machines, storage, etc. in the authorization is more secure.
