Installing PostgreSQL on Ubuntu server

First update the Source:

sudo apt-get update

If you do not know the name of PostgreSQL specific package, you can use the statement to find:

Apt-cache Search ^postgresql

Using the search above, you can find the currently installable version of PostgreSQL and install it using Apt-get:

sudo Install postgresql-9.3

When installed with Apt-get install, each library that it relies on is automatically installed (the installation process prompts you to select Y).

After the installation is complete, run Psql, which will prompt the following error:

[Email protected]:~"Bob" does not exist

This prompts you to switch to the default Postgres user of the database system:

sudo -u postgres-i
