Currently, the mainstream brands on the market generally use Windows XP for random installation. However, some users may still have a special liking for Windows 98, Windows ME, or Windows 2000 operating systems, we hope to install the above operating system without damaging the original operating system. In general, if we do not use third-party software, we should install Microsoft's Windows operating systems in sequence from low to high; if a third-party software is used, the copyright and usage of the software used will be involved, which is obviously inappropriate for general users. In fact, according to the methods we provide in this article, operating system anti-dress can be achieved without any third-party software, and it is very simple!
For example, on my Lenovo brand machine, Windows XP family edition is installed in hard drive zone C. The file format in Zone C is FAT 32, and the file system in other partitions is FAT 32. Use this method to install Windows 98, C, and the file system that installs Windows 98 partitions must be converted to FAT 32; otherwise, a third-party startup software is required. Of course, if the file format is NTFS, we can use the "Partition Magic" software to lossless conversion to FAT 32.
Preparation: A Windows 98/ME boot floppy disk that supports the optical drive; a DEBUG. EXE file (which can be copied from the Windows \ Command folder to the boot floppy disk or extracted from EBD. CAB ).
Steps:
Part 1:
Install Windows 98/ME
1. Place the installation CD of Windows 98/ME into the optical drive; 2. Use the prepared boot disk to start the computer;
3. Follow the normal method of Installing Windows 98/ME to install the operating system; just do not install Windows 98/ME in the partition where Windows XP is located;
4. After installation, start the computer to the Windows 98/ME operating system.
Part 2:
Modify the "BOOTSECT. DOS" File
After installing the Windows 98/ME operating system according to the above method, the startup file required for Windows XP will be modified. We need to modify the "BOOTSECT. DOS" file to fix its Startup File.
1. Open notepad or other text editing software to create READ. SCR (the file name can be changed). The content is as follows:
L 100 2 0 1
N c: \ BOOTSECT. DOS
R BX
0
R CX
200
W
Q
2. Copy the above files to the boot disk;
3. Use the boot disk to start the computer to DOS;
4. Modify the attributes of the "BOOTSECT. DOS" file by running the following command:
Attrib c: \ BOOTSECT. DOS-S-H-R
5. Enter: DEBUG at the command prompt.

Part 3:
Fix Windows XP
1. modify the BIOS boot options to enable the computer to start from the optical drive. You can also use the boot disk you just created to start the computer, and then enter f at the command prompt: \ i386 \ winnnt.exe (f is the drive letter of the optical drive) to run the installation command;
2. When installing Windows XP, We need to select the "Repair" option to repair the installed operating system on the hard disk;
3. select the operating system to log on to, usually "1", type "1", and enter the administrator password (set during installation, users who install Lenovo brand machines for Windows XP family edition only need to press the Enter key );
4. Type "FIXBOOT" at the command prompt to fix the Windows XP Startup File;
5. Take out the Windows XP installation disc in the optical drive, restart the computer, modify the startup options in the BIOS, and set it to start from the hard disk.
Now you can see the Windows XP Startup menu and select the OS you want to enter. After restarting the computer, we can select the OS to be started. Is it easy?
Part 4:
Install Win2000 in WinXP

After installing Windows XP, installing Windows 2000 is much easier than installing 98 or ME. The method mentioned in this Article does not need third-party software, and can be operated in the file format of FAT32 or NTFS.
1. first, open "Control Panel", select "Folder Options", double-click, and select "View" in the "Folder Options" window ", remove "√" before "Hide protected operating system files" in "Advanced Settings" to display the two system files we need: "NTLDR" and "NTDETECT. COM ";
2. Copy the two files to a floppy disk;
3. Modify the startup options in the BIOS to start the computer from the CD and run the installation procedure for Windows 2000;
4. Install Windows 2000 as usual;
5. After the installation is complete, start the computer to Windows 2000;
6. copy the above two files from the floppy disk to the root directory of Zone C. If the system prompts that the files cannot be copied, You need to modify the attributes of the above two files, remove their "read-only" and "hidden" attributes.
Note: this is because "NTLDR" and "NTDETECT" of Windows XP are used. COM "supports Windows 2000, but the latter does not support the former, so we need to perform the above operations.
