Overview

The Open Services for Lifecycle Collaboration (OSLC) allows software and product lifecycle tools from the same or different resellers to interoperate to support end-to-end processes. These tools include software packages for project management, defect tracking, test management, schema management, and other tasks. In this article, we will describe how to use the IBM rational System Architect, the Architectural management tool, and the rational Solution application for Collaborative lifecycle Management (CLM) to provide requirements management, project planning, change, and configuration management, Set up OSLC integration between build management and test management capabilities. Setting up this integration on a Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 server requires you to circumvent certain risks.

This article is based on the experience gained when setting up integration scenarios in IBM Beta Test Site at the IBM SAP Center, located in Herenberg, Germany. This article assumes that you are familiar with the concepts of each tool and use the following Product version to guide you through the installation and integration process:

Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2

Rational System Architect V11.4.2

including Microsoft SQL Server Express 2008

Rational system Architect XT V11.4.2 (System Architect XT)

Rational CLM 2012

Rational Team Concert 4.0

Rational Quality Manager 4.0

The authors have successfully set up similar configurations on the basis of earlier versions, including System Architect V11.4.1.2 and CLM (Rational Team concert, rational Requirements Composer and Rational Quality Manager 3.0). Although screenshots may vary in detail, the overall approach does not change.
