With the gradual increase in the integration of the main board, the integrated sound card has become the current trend of computer development, and with the improvement of the integrated sound card chip technology, there is a trend to replace the independent sound card.

According to the popular classification, the ac'97 sound card is divided into two categories: Hard sound card and soft sound card. Among them, the ac'97 hard sound card, first of all, most independent sound cards are hard sound cards; the sound cards integrated on the motherboard also have hard sound cards: These sound cards, in addition to including the Audio Codec Chip, are also integrated into the motherboard as a digital control chip, that is, the chip and auxiliary circuit are integrated into the motherboard. These sound card chips provide independent digital audio processing units and ADC and DAC conversion systems to ultimately output analog sound signals. This hard sound card is not much different from an ordinary independent sound card. It is more like an independent Sound Card Integrated into the motherboard. Due to the improvement of integration, the CPU load is reduced, and the sound quality is also improved, however, the corresponding cost has also increased, and is rarely used by motherboard manufacturers.

AC '97 soft sound card only integrates audio codec on the motherboard, while digital control is completely replaced by the CPU, saving a lot of costs. According to the provisions of the ac'97 standard, pins compatible between different audio codec97 chips can be replaced in principle. That is to say, the ac'97 soft sound card is only a Codec Chip Based on the ac'97 standard and does not contain digital audio processing units. Therefore, when the computer plays Audio Information, all the processing except the D/A and A/D conversions must be done by the CPU. It can be said that the AC '97 soft sound card only simplifies the hardware, and the design idea is still to implement the sound card of the AC '97 specifications. Some consumers think that the soft sound card does not have a digital control chip, but uses software simulation. Therefore, there are two problems: first, the CPU usage must be high, which is prone to sound bursts, second, sound quality cannot be compared with ordinary independent sound cards.

In fact, as the CPU clock speed continues to increase, the amount of audio data processing has not increased much. The so-called CPU usage problem has long been ignored. In terms of sound quality, although it is still difficult to compare with the high-end independent sound card, with the constant upgrade and improvement of the soundmax 3.0 driver, enables the ac'97 soft sound card to have the hardware-level data processing and conversion capability and the professional sound quality playback capability of up to 94db signal-to-noise ratio. The added sensaura provides 3D positioning sound effects, XG-compatible sondius-xg midi soft wave table and the latest sound effectsAlgorithmSPX has elevated the sound card of the ac'97 software to an unprecedented height, completely changing the consumer's image of poor sound quality.

Sound cards often encounter some strange problems during use, including hardware problems and numerous software faults. Below we will select some representative problems, through understanding these problems and solutions, consumers can handle them based on the situation and solve the actual problems in a timely manner.

1. Silent Sound Card

If the sound card installation process is normal, the device can be properly identified. Generally, there is little possibility of hardware failure.

1. Whether the connection is correct with the speaker or headset.

2. Whether the speaker or earphone is in good performance.

3. Whether the audio connection line is damaged.

4. Whether the sound channels in Windows volume control are blocked.

If the above four are normal and there is no sound, we can try to replace a newer version of the driver.ProgramTry and remember to install the latest patch for the motherboard or sound card.

Ii. play MIDI without silence

Some sound cards play MP3 and play games normally, but cannot play MIDI files. From the principle, the sound card itself is not a problem, it should be a setup problem.

You can go to the control panel → multimedia → audio → MIDI music playback, and select a suitable playing device. Of course, it may also be that the Midi channel in the Windows volume control is set to the mute mode. Remove the mute check box.

3. Play CD without silence

If the MP3 player has sound, the sound card fault can be ruled out. The biggest possibility is that you have not connected the CD audio line.

Ordinary CD-ROM can be directly on the CD decoding, through the CD-ROM attached to the 4-core line and sound card connection. One end of the line is connected to the analog audio output on the CD-ROM, the other end is connected to the CD in integrated sound card, CD-in can be found around the integrated sound card chip, it should be noted that there are major and minor differences between audio and video cables. Appropriate audio and video cables must be used in combination.

4. Cannot play WAV audio files

It is often because there are more than one audio device under "Control Panel> multimedia> device" that cannot play WAV audio files. In this case, you can disable one.

5. noise during playback

Signal-to-noise ratio is generally the culprit of noise generation. The integrated sound card is particularly affected by background noise. However, with the enhancement of signal-to-noise ratio parameters of the sound card chip, the signal-to-noise ratio of most integrated sound cards is above 75 dB, the signal-to-noise ratio of some high-end products even reaches 95db, and the noise problem becomes increasingly small. Apart from the signal-to-noise ratio, electromagnetic interference of clutter is the only reason for noise. Because some integrated sound cards adopt low-cost power amplifier units, workmanship and materials are unsightly. The signal-to-noise ratio is far lower than the standard of the Middle-end motherboard, and the natural noise cannot be controlled.

Because speaker out uses the power amplifier unit on the sound card to enlarge the signal, although the output signal is "large and fierce", the signal-to-noise ratio is very low. Line out bypasses the power amplifier unit on the sound card and directly outputs the signal to the Speaker in line transmission mode. If there is background noise, try this method and I believe it will improve a lot. However, if you use a poor speaker, I believe the improvement will not be great.

6. Sound Card burst when running large programs

The integration of soft sound card digital audio processing relies on the CPU, and this problem may occur if the computer configuration is too low.

On the Control Panel, select system> Device Manager, select the disk drive, find the hard disk parameters, double-click the parameters, and remove the check mark before the hard disk DMA option on the displayed interface. However, disabling the DMA data interface will reduce the system performance. Alternatively, you can install the latest motherboard patch and sound card patch to change the latest driver.

7. After the new direct X is installed, the sound card will not sound

Some sound card drivers are incompatible with the new version of direct X, so that the sound card cannot be voiced under the new direct X.

If you have installed a new version of direct X, the sound card cannot be voiced, you need to replace the new driver for the sound card or uninstall direct X and then reinstall the old version.

8. During Direct x diagnostics, hardware buffering is not supported, and sound cards are not audible.

The software buffer is too small to be audible.

Open the control panel, multimedia properties → devices → media control devices → waveform audio devices. There is a setting option to change the default 4-second software buffer capacity to a maximum of 9 seconds.

9. The sound card cannot be used normally after the frequency is exceeded.

Due to overclock usage, some integrated sound cards work at abnormal frequencies, which may lead to sound bursts or sound loss.

I suggest that you do not overclock the sound card, so that the normal operation of the sound card is no problem. If it is necessary to use frequently, try to work at the standard frequency, so that the integrated sound card can also work at the normal frequency, and generally can ensure normal use.

10. sound cards cannot be recorded

Most integrated sound cards are full-duplex sound cards, and the possibility of damage to the recording part is also very small.

First, check whether the jack is "microphone input", double-click the "Speaker" icon, and select "Properties> recording" on the menu to check whether the settings are correct. Next, in "Control Panel> multimedia> devices", adjust "mixer devices" and "line input devices" to "use" status. Go to "Control Panel> multimedia> audio> recording preferred device" and click the microphone icon to go to "Recording Control". You can preset the required recording channel here, then you can use the recording function. If this small item turns gray, try removing and reinstalling the sound card.

Of course, there are also special cases: Because the integrated sound card generally does not have a power amplifier chip, it cannot push high-end recording equipment, so it cannot be recorded. In this case, you can change the high-grade sound card, or change the motherboard of higher grades. The author's apple MIC can only be used on the Asus motherboard or on the SB live sound card. Of course, if you don't care about the mic effect, you can replace a low-level MIC to solve the problem.

11. Integrated sound card playing any audio file is similar to fast forward

As the sound card has been voiced, I believe the problem may be caused by the setup and driver.

If your computer is frequently used, first reduce the frequency and disable the acceleration function of the sound card. If this still doesn't work, find patches for the motherboard and sound card and new drivers.

12. Four voices cannot be used normally

Some integrated sound cards can sound normally and cannot use the four-way mode. I believe it is still a problem to set up.

Many sound cards use software to simulate four sound channels. They simply copy the sound of the front speaker to the rear speaker so that they can play MP3 audio or listen to CD audio, there is no way to play 3D games or DVDs. You can also say that these sound cards are not really four-way sound.

13. The voice is intermittent when the network chat program is running.

In fact, this problem does not affect the sound card. Due to network traffic restrictions, the network bandwidth cannot smoothly transmit sound signals.

Do not open large programs or download large-volume network operations during network chat. If you can change the network access mode and increase bandwidth, it will be a permanent solution.

14. After changing the sound card multiple times and re-using the integrated sound card, Windows prompts that no hardware driver is found

This type of fault is generally caused by the failure to properly complete the first time the driver is loaded, or in config. sys, automatic batch processing file autoexec. bat, dosstart. A sound card driver is already running in the BAT file.

To solve this problem, you can delete a driver file running in it. Of course, you can also delete the three files mentioned above to solve the fault. If no file exists in the preceding three files and the driver cannot be installed, You need to modify the registry and click "start"> "run ", in the dialog box, enter "Regedit" and press enter to delete the registry key related to the sound card (for example, if the sound card model is alc650, click "edit"-"Search" in the registry key, and enter als300, then, delete the found bytes, press F3 to continue searching for the next one, and delete the options in sequence ).

15. BIOS settings

Users who are not familiar with BIOS may block the onboard sound card.

Enter the bios, select I/O device configuration → onboard ac97 Audio Controller, and select enanle or auto. This process is passed on the author's Asus motherboard and is basically similar to that on other boards. If it is Award bios, the "intergrated peripherals" in the BIOS will be entered ", select "ac97 audio" and change "Auto" to "Disable" to save.

16. After the NIC or other devices are installed, the sound card will no longer sound

This problem is representative, mostly due to compatibility issues and interruptions.

the driver compatibility problem is well solved. You can update the drivers of each product. Interruption conflicts are troublesome. First, go to the control panel → system → Device Manager to query the IRQ interruptions, and you can manually set IRQ to eliminate the conflict. If the Device Manager cannot eliminate the conflict, the best way is to return to the bios, disable unnecessary devices, and leave unnecessary IRQ interruptions. You can also change the NIC or other devices to a slot, which also changes the IRQ interrupt to eliminate the conflict. After changing the slot, change "Reset configutionration data" to "enable" in the "PNP/PCI" item in the bios, clear the PCI device table, and re-allocate the IRQ interrupt.
