Xml

In this web site, we focused on Internet Explorer 5.0 support for XML because Netscape has poor support for XML. Maybe that will change.

XML on this web site

XML is supported by many applications. Let's focus on Internet Explorer 5.0. Some of you will complain about this, but we do this only because it's the only viable way we know it, and we're here to illustrate real XML examples on the Internet. We regret to say that while we are waiting for Netscape, most of our software examples are working on IE5. If you are willing to easily learn xml--here are a number of examples that you can try-you have to endure that.

XML on Netscape Navigator

Netscape has pledged to fully support XML in its next browser. We hope Netscape will include standard support for the XML in the next version of its browser. Based on previous experience, we can only hope that future navigator and Explorer XML will be compatible. Your choice right now-if you want to use the cross browser XML-is to use XML on your server and convert XML to XML before it is sent to the browser. You can refer to W3Schools ' XSL School for content that transforms XML into HTML.

XML in Internet Explorer 5.0

Internet Explorer 5.0 supports the XML 1.0 standard. Internet Explorer 5.0 supports most international standards for XML 1.0 and the XML DOM (Document Object model). These standards are set up by the Wide Area Network Association (the Consortium). Internet Explorer 5.0 has the following XML support:

viewing XML documents
Full support for the Universal DTD standard
Embed XML as a data island in HTML
Bundle XML data into HTML elements
Transforming and displaying XML with XSL
displaying XML in CSS
Accessing the XML DOM
Internet Explorer 5.0 also has support for behavior:

Behaviors is a technology that only Microsoft has.
Behaviors can detach the script from an HTML page.
Behaviors can store XML data on a customer's hard disk.
Examples of all these features are described in the next chapter. You can read the contents of Internet Explorer and download the latest version of W3Schools ' Browser information.

View an XML file with IE 5.0

The original XML file can be viewed in Internet Explorer 5.0, but you must add some display information if you want to display it like a Web page. To see an example XML file, you must have Internet Explorer 5.0 or later.

View XML with Internet Explorer 5.0

You can view any XML document using IE 5.0来. To view an XML document, you can click a link, type the URL in the Address bar, or double-click an XML file name in the folder. If you open an XML document in IE, it will display the document's encoded root and child elements in color. You can click on the left side of the element

A plus sign (+) or minus sign (-) to expand or shrink the structure of the element. If you want to view the original XML source file, you must choose View Source from the browser menu. Note: Do not expect XML files to be formatted like an HTML document! If you click Note.xml, IE will open the file in a view like explorer.

To view an invalid XML file

If you open an incorrect XML file with IE, IE will report the error. If you click Note_error.xml, IE will display an error message.
