Welcome to Unity Learning, unity training, Unity Enterprise training and education zone, there are many u3d resources, u3d training videos, u3d tutorials, U3d Frequently asked questions, U3d Project source code, we are committed to creating the industry Unity3d training, learning the first brand.
Import objects from Cinema 4D
Unity can import Cinema 4D files directly. Simply place the. c4d file in the project's resources (Assets) folder at the beginning. When you switch back to Unity, the scene is automatically imported and displayed in the Project view.
To view the model in Unity, simply drag it from the Drawing View (Project view) into the scene view.
If you modify the. c4d file, Unity will automatically update when you save the file.
Unity can now import
- All objects with position, rotation, and scale. The axis and name are also imported.
- A mesh with Uvs and normals.
- A material that contains textures and diffuse colors. Each mesh has a variety of materials.
- Forward kinematics (FK) animation (IK must be baked manually).
- Skeletal-based animations.
Unity does not support importing vertex animation (PLA) at this time. Instead, use bone-based animations.
Character animations using inverse kinematics (IK)
If you use inverse kinematics (IK) to animate character animations in Cinema 4D, you must bake IK before selecting the plug-in (Plugins)-Mocha (MOCCA)->cappucino menu. If you do not bake IK before importing Unity, it is likely that only animated anchor points are imported rather than skeletal animations.
Requirements
- You must have Cinema 4D 8.5 or later installed to import the. c4d file.
If Cinema 4 D is not installed on the machine, but to import cinema 4D files from another machine, you can export the FBX format, and Unity can import the format directly:
- Open Cinema 4D file
- Select File, export from Cinema 4D->FBX 6.0
- Place the exported FBX file under the Unity Engineering Resources (Assets) folder. Unity will automatically import FBX files.
Tips
- To bring the import speed to the highest when importing cinema 4D files: Open Cinema 4D Preferences (edit) and preferences (Preferences) to select the FBX 6 first option. The embed texture (Embed textures) option is not checked.
Behind the import process (advanced)
When Unity imports cinema 4D files, the cinema 4D plug-in is automatically installed and cinema 4D is started in the background. After that, unity communicates with Cinema 4D, turning the. c4d file into Unity-readable format. When you first import a. c4d file and you have not yet opened Cinema 4D, the boot time is slightly longer, but subsequent imports. C4D will be very fast.
Cinema 4D 10 Support
When you import a. c4d file directly, Unity converts the Cinema 4D file into FBX format in the background. When Maxon released Cinema 4D 10.0, there were many problems with the FBX export tool. Many of the issues have been fixed in the Cinema 4D 10.1 release. Therefore, we strongly recommend that Cinema 4D 10 users upgrade to version 10.1.
Now there are some problems with the Maxons FBX export tool. There seems to be no reliable way to export animated characters with Cinema 4D 10 joints, but in version 9.6 the old skeleton system can be exported perfectly. Therefore, it is critical to use the old skeleton system when creating animated characters rather than using the joint tool.
