A chart series is a chart element that is directly associated with data in a chart.

Ways to add a chart series

First: Click the chart area, right-source data-Series-add series, with the mouse pointer to specify the data series name, value and category axis labels.

Second: Click an existing data series, the data source area will be highlighted, drag to increase the range of data sources, you can add new data series.

Third: Select the chart, in the Data menu-source data, you can also add a new data series.

Fourth: Select the data series you want to add, copy, click the chart area, right-paste it. This method is invalid after version 03.

Fifth: Select the data series you want to add, move the mouse to the border, when the cursor is a cross arrow, press the left mouse button to drag to the chart area, release the left mouse button can be (03 version later invalid).

Ways to delete a chart series

First: Click the chart area, right-source data-series, select the series to delete, click Delete.

Second: Click the chart, the data in the menu-the source data, the following operation with the first type.

Third: Select the data series that you want to delete, and press the "delete" key.

Fourth: Click the data series, the source data area will be highlighted, reduce the display area, you will be able to delete the data series.

Fifth: Click the legend, and then select the legend ID of the data you want to delete, press the "delete" key (03 version will not work).

To adjust the order of the data series, select the data series-right key-data series format-sequence order in the adjustment. You can also adjust the data series formulas.

Some special options for charts: When the source data appears with 0 values, the column chart shows none, and the line chart has a larger sag. Set the 0 value and hidden value in the tools-options-chart at this point. In versions 07 and 10 of Excel, this option is set in the settings for selecting data sources-hidden and blank cells.

Data in the same data series can be selected only on the same worksheet, and data from different data series may be selected on separate worksheets.

Separation of charts from source data

If you want the chart to be free of data, you can select the chart data series formula and press the F9 key on your keyboard so that the chart will break out of the data on the worksheet and the chart will not change in any area. If you convert a chart to a static picture, select an enhanced metafile so that the chart is copied or moved to any area without changing the data or loss.

Combining charts

In a two-dimensional chart, each data series can be a chart type, but a bar chart and pie chart cannot be grouped together.
