Whether Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista is installed first, or Windows is irrelevant. The most important thing is the subsequent operations. Now we will introduce how to install dual-system.
I. New Dual-system installation
This is related to the dual-system startup problem. We will modify the Boot manager of Vista/win7 and add the boot information of Win XP to the BCD file.
However, when XP is installed first and then Vista/win7 is installed, the system will automatically perform these tasks. What we need to do is prepare for fixing system problems in the future, as shown below:
1. boot file backup
After the configuration is complete and the system is restarted, the dual-system is used. Now, an important task is to back up files. Backup is very important. These files are hidden. You must enable the folder option to set them.
(1) The backup boot file isActive primary Partition
) "For example, it is a C disk): boot (folder); autoexec. BAT; bootmgr. sys; config. sys; bootsect. bak; boot. INI; bootfont. bin; Io. sys; msdos. sys;
Ntdetect. com;
Ntldr. sys
Among them, boot (folder); autoexec. BAT; bootmgr. sys; config. sys; bootsect. Bak isVista/win7
Boot. ini; bootfont. Bin; IO. sys; msdos. sys; ntdetect. com; ntldr. sys isWin XP
.
(2) back up the BCD file: ① open "run" (Start> RUN), Enter cmd
② Input bcdedit/export "X:/XXX/BCD"
Restore the BCD file: ① open "run" (Start> RUN) and Enter cmd
② Input bcdedit/import "X:/XXX/BCD"
Back up the BCD file to the "F:/123/" folder and restore it from the "F:/123/" folder. The BCD file is located in the "C:/boot/" folder.
2. reinstall the dual-System
(For some reason)
However, some people have to reinstall WINXP or Vista (win7 ). After the installation, there is no Dual System Startup menu. There are two forms here.
First, Vista (win7) is installed on drive C. If Vista does not move, reinstall Win XP.
Method: Because Windows XP is re-installed, the boot file of Windows XP on drive C is not moved, so we can only restore the previously backed up BCD file. (Recommended)
Second: Vista (win7) is installed on drive C, but Windows XP does not move. reinstall Vista (win7 ).
Because Vista is installed on drive C, after it is installed, all the Windows XP boot files in drive C will disappear, so copy the Windows XP boot files to drive C. Then, restore the BCD file to restore the dual-system boot menu.
Note: This method must ensure that the boot files of WINXP and Vista in drive C are free of loss. We recommend that you back up them after installing the system. It is best to back up them all.
Ii. Change the dual system to a single system
1. Retain Vista (win7) and delete Win XP
① By default, the system is started with Vista (win7.
Method: (1) Use the optical drive to load the Vista (win7) disc (you can use the virtual optical drive)
To copy the bootsect.exe file to another place,
For example, F:/123/(under the directory of drive F 123)
(2) Open "run" (Start> RUN), Enter cmd, or directly press win + R, and then enter cmd to enter the command line mode.
(3) Enter CD/d F:/(f the drive letter where bootsect.exe is located)
(4) enter the path of CD 123/(123 bootsect.exe in F)
⑸ Input bootsect/nt60 sys
Restart, And the XP startup manager disappears.
② Delete the boot file of Win XP on drive C (which of the following are the boot files of Win XP );
③ Format the disk where you installed Windows XP.
2. Retain Win XP and delete Vista (win7)
① Format the disk where you installed Vista (win7.
② Use the "system boot repair" on the system CD to guide the system into the system (or the PE system, in short, to enter a tool PE system ), after entering, copy the backup Windows XP boot program to the "disk where the current Boot Program is located". Here I am a drive C.
③ By default, Windows XP is used for system recovery.
Method: (1) Use the optical drive to load the Vista (win7) disc (you can use the virtual optical drive)
To copy the bootsect.exe file to another place, such as F:/123/(under the directory of drive F 123)
Consumer input bootsect/nt52 sys
The supervisor restarts and the start manager of Vista (win7) disappears. The system starts Windows XP by default.
Note: This drive C is the disk where the current Boot Program is located (Active primary partition )". If you are not clear about the disk where the current Boot Program is located, you can directly enter bootsect/nt60 or 52 all (bootsect/nt52 all)
This will automatically start from the active primary partition.
Note that if Vista (win7) is retained, all boot files of Vista (win7) are not lost. If Windows XP is retained, all boot files of WINXP are retained.
