Introduction to EXCEL2007 name Manager
Name Manager is a new feature of Excel2007
NEW: Name Manager is a new feature in Exce12007.
When you select the name "->" name Manager (or press CTRL+F3 key) defined by "formula"->, the name Manager Fly name Manager appears with the following features:
Displays information about each name in the workbook. You can resize the Name Manager dialog box and increase the column widths to display more information. You can also click the column headings to categorize the information by column.
Allows filtering of the displayed name. Click the Filter button to display only those names that meet certain criteria. For example, you can view only the hierarchy name of a workbook.
Provides quick access to the new Name dialog box. Click the New button to create a new name, but do not close the name manager.
Edit the name. To edit a name, select it in the list and click the Edit button. You can change the name or "reference location" or edit the annotation.
Quickly remove unwanted names. To remove a name, select it in the list and click Delete.
Warning: Special care should be taken when deleting names. If the name is used in a formula, deleting the name causes the formula to become invalid (display #name?). However, the delete name operation can be undone, so if you find the formula to return #name after deleting the name? , select the Undo command (or press ctrl+z) from the Quick Access Toolbar to restore the name.
If you delete a row or column, including a cell or range that has a name defined, the name contains an invalid reference. For example, if cell Al on the Sheet1 is named interest. If you delete row 1th or column A, the name interest will refer to "=sheetl! #REF!" (That is, the wrong quote). If you use interest in a formula. The formula will show "#REF."
Tip: The name manager, while useful, has its drawbacks: it does not display a list of names in the worksheet area, so you cannot view or print them. Such techniques are feasible, but users need to have a deeper understanding of the name manager.
To create a list of names in a workbook, you first move the cell pointer to a blank area one by one list in the worksheet to create the active cell position, overwriting any information at that location. Press F3 to display the Paste Name dialog box, which lists all the defined names. Then click the Paste List button. Excel creates a list of all names and their corresponding addresses in the workbook.
