The new version of VNX supports four types of hardware upgrades
- Upgrade from low-end models to high-end models
- Upgrade from Block-Only to Unified storage)
- Upgrade from single File-Only to Unified storage)
- VNX7500 memory upgraded from 24 GB to 48 GB
As shown In the preceding figure, Data In Placement is upgraded from the low-end model to the high-end model. For example, you can upgrade VNX5300 to VNX7500; the upgrade will not change the storage function of the original VNX, and block storage is still block storage.
When a new storage module CIFS/NFS is added, the storage is upgraded from a single Block-Only storage to a unified storage; or when FC/iSCSI is added, the storage is upgraded from a single File-Only storage to a unified storage. Note: The VNX5100 is positioned as a single Block-Only storage and does not support the File function.
The VNX7500 memory has been upgraded twice as much as the original write cache, improving the performance of the storage system.
