Server Installation and Setup
This articleArticleThis topic describes in detail how to use Helix Server 9 and helix producer 9 to set up a network radio station. I hope to give some reference to my friends who want to set up a radio station. If you have any questions or questions, please send an email.
Step 1 install and configureHelix Server 9 (Server 9 ). The computer on which Server 9 is installed must be an operating system with NT, so that a stable foundation can be ensured. First, you need to download server 9. The author downloaded the Helix Server 9.0.2.794 English version. After downloading helix server9, you also need a license (user authorization file). You can apply for a free license within 30 days on the official website of RealNetworks, the license is also available in some places on the Internet. We would like to remind you that if you use a pirated or cracked license, RealNetworks will not make a commitment or guarantee against system crashes or other damages.
The following steps are performed in sequence:
Install Server 9.0. Double-click the Installation File of Server 9.0. After the software is decompressed, the welcome installation page appears (figure 1). Click Next next;
Figure 1
In the pop-up page (Figure 2), you can import the license (user authorization file) and Click Browse to find the license file corresponding to Server 9;
Figure 2
Select the license file, use LIC as the suffix, and click open (Figure 3 );
Figure 3
In the following interface (figure 4), check whether the license file path is correct. If it is correct, click Next to continue the installation;

In the pop-up interface (figure 8), set the user name and password of the station server set up on Server 9, when you open the management page of Server 9, you need to enter the user name and password set here. After the settings are complete, click Next;
Figure 8
The following page appears:9. Figure 10, figure 11, and figure 12) are all radio server ports. Generally, the default values are kept and click Next. However, if you have installed IIS or other Web servers, you need to change the http: // port from 80 to another value. I will change it to 8888 (figure 11 ), otherwise, a port conflict occurs, causing the station to fail to broadcast normally. This is the PNM port and the default value is 7070;
Figure 9
This is the RTSP port and the default value is 554;
Figure 10
This is an http port. Note that the default port 80 is changed to 8888 because IIS is installed on my computer to avoid conflict;
Figure 11
This is the MMS port. That's right. The MMS port isSupport for WM media files, which is also a very important new feature of Server 9, but here we talk about real network radio stations. MMS ports can be skipped directly, keep the default value 1755;
Figure 12
After setting the four ports, the fifth pop-up port number (Figure 13) is the Management port of the server 9 radio station server. This can be changed. For convenience, I will change it to 1, you can also change the port number you like, but as long as it is not the same as other ports;
Figure 13
The pop-up interface (Figure 14) is to ask if you want to use Helix Server as the NT service. As the NJ service, you can ensure the stability of the broadcast, because the author's computer uses XP, therefore, keep the default value selected and click Next;

Figure 23
Restart the service.In 20 seconds, after the service is restarted, the server settings required to set up the network station are completed. Next, we need to set helix producer 9 for the program's NJ end.
After setupAfter Server 9, the server end of the network station set up with Helix Server 9 came to an end. The following describes how to install and set up the NJ end of the Network Station. What? What does NJ mean? Does DJ know? NJ is the net DJ, the host of the network station. It may be a new term and I don't know who invented it. In addition to Server 9, we also need a customer software that allows the audience to receive music and sound, that is, what I call the software required by the NJ end. Here, we use helix producer 9 corresponding to Server 9. The author uses helix producer 9 (hereinafter referred to as producer 9) with helix producer plus 9.0.1.250, the following uses this version as an example to describe how to set up the NJ end of the Network Station step by step. Similarly, you must first download the Installation File of producer 9. After the download is complete, double-click the Installation File of producer 9. The first pop-up interface is the user agreement (figure 24 ), select I accept the terms in the license agreement, and click Next;
Figure 24
Go to the next page (figure 25), enter the serial number at serial number:, and click Next to continue the next step;
Figure 25
In this interface (figure27), keep or change the path to which producer 9 is to be installed. For example, install producer 9 to D: \ real \ helix producer plus and click Install to start the software installation;
Figure 26
The following describes the automatic installation process (Figure 27). Please wait;
Figure 27
After the automatic installation is complete, check launch helix producer plus (figure 28) and click Finish to complete the installation of producer 9;
Figure 28
As launch helix producer plus is selected, after installation is complete, it automatically enters the working interface of producer 9. Here, we need to set a series of settings for the software.
In the first step, select the sound card on the local machine (figure 29), click devices on the left, and select the sound card from the drop-down list of audio. The two sound cards are installed on my computer, and the creative Sb audiopci is selected, click the sound card;
Figure 29
After selecting the sound card, you also need to set the Connected Server address, broadcast station broadcast file name, and other options, click the icon (figure 30), Add Server Destination, and add the server address;
Figure 30
In the displayed interface (figure31), add the server name (destination name), streaming media file name (that is, broadcast file name: stream name), server address, port (Port/port range ), username and password of the server );
Figure 31
The server name (Destination name) and streaming media file name (Stream name) are your own set names, which can be filled in according to your personal preferences; broadcast method (broadcast method) can be kept by default; the IP address should have been entered at the server address, but the author uses the dynamic domain name conversion of the peanut shell, so simply enter the domain name address of the peanut shell, the port (Port/port range) because 8888 is set during Server installation, it should also be set to 8888 here, the server's username and password) the user name and password of the server set during Server Installation. Click OK after the settings are complete. You can also click "templates" to add a template. However, after the template is added, it is still inconvenient. Generally, NJ only connects to one server address, so no template is added, another method is adopted, which will be introduced later. After the server address is set, you need to set the broadcast speed, that is, the server bandwidth occupied by each listener when connecting to the broadcast, as shown in 32, click audiences;
Figure 32
On the displayed page (Figure 33), select 16 K in the lower-right corner and click Delete as the recycle bin icon. Delete 56 K and 256 K in the same way;
Figure 33
Here, we need to explain why only28 K. The reason is that the audience who use the cat to dial up the Internet often experience buffering due to other resources, drivers, bandwidth, and other reasons. Therefore, only 28 K is retained. Of course, you can also adjust the bandwidth according to your personal preferences. Only 56 K or K can be retained. The higher the usage rate, the better the sound quality. Note that producer 9 has the function of Automatically Adjusting the bandwidth, therefore, only one playback rate can be retained. It is not recommended that multiple playback rates coexist.
Double-click only28 K dial-up: the 28 K speed setting page is displayed (figure 34). The playback speed of 28 K is further set to improve the playback quality. as shown in Figure 34, select 20 kbps stereo music high response-ra8 from the drop-down menu of music codec;
Figure 34
35 after the playback rate is set:
Figure 35
ClickOK, return to the previous page (Figure 36). Then, a * sign is added in the upper-right corner of the 28 K dial-up, and click X in the upper-right corner to return to the main interface;
Figure 36
Next, set the editing information, such as the title, author, and copyright. Click clip information (37 );
Figure 37
On the displayed editing information page (Figure 38), enter the title, author, and copyright in sequence, click X in the upper-right corner to return to the main interface;
Figure 38
After a series of settings, you can finally live the video online. Then you can see (Figure 39) that the encode button in the lower right corner of the main interface is red and can be clicked. Click encode to live the video online;
Figure 39
Now you can play a music or song that you like to listen to. When playing a song, you can see that there is a scroll bar on the right of the main interface and a waveform spectrum appears, at the same time, the status of the work bar changesBroadcasting ..., 40. Then, the listener connects to your broadcast address to hear the music you play. The Listener's listening address is rtsp: // your IP address or domain name/broadcast/the stream name you just entered. For example, according to the settings set by the author, the listening address should be rtsp: // dof.vicp.net/broadcast/dof. if you click the stopword in the lower right corner of the project, the stopword can;
Figure 40
As mentioned above, you can create a template to quickly open the server address of the radio station. I do not recommend this. As shown in Figure 41, click File-save job as on the main interface, rpjf job for saving as a producerCompositionIn this way, the next time you do broadcast, directly open the rpjf file you saved, you can quickly start the broadcast, no need to set anything;
Figure 41
Someone asked a question, saying that after I set it like this, the music listener cannot hear the music. What is the problem? Don't worry. It must be that your volume control is not set. Double-click the small speaker icon in the lower right corner. In the displayed page (Figure 42), click option-properties;
Figure 42
SetSelect stereo mix (some sound cards are called stereo sound mixing) and click OK (43 );
Figure 43
InSelect at the bottom of stereo mix, and select 44;
Figure 44
How is it? Now the audience can hear the music! Note that ifIf the volume of stereo mix is too large, the audience will hear a broken music in the concert. Therefore, you can find a listener to adjust the volume of stereo mix while listening to the sound quality until it is appropriate, this must be adjusted slowly. The host wants to talk? (Speaking nonsense, as a host, of course !) Yes. Double-click the small speaker icon in the lower right corner to bring up the volume control panel (Figure 45 );
Figure 45
See?Mic volume (some sound cards call the microphone volume). If you do not select the mute option, you can transmit the voice to the headset of the audience. If you select the mute option, of course, the audience won't be able to hear you talking, coughing, yawning, shotting, or ...... this is also the reason. Generally, when playing music, NJ should select mute microphone volume to make the music more pure, you can also prevent yourself from making strange noises that affect your audience.
So far, useHelix Server 9 and helix producr 9 have completed the installation and Setup of network radio stations. The most important thing to note is the broadcast quality problem. Some radio stations have poor broadcast quality, it sounds extremely uncomfortable. Therefore, it is important to adjust the volume of stereo mix. You can adjust the volume while listening, and keep tuning until you are satisfied.
