As a person who has 7 years of mobile platform development experience and has been developing on the Symbian platform for nearly 3 years, the mobile development platform meego, jointly launched by Nokia and Intel's it giants, naturally became my research goal.

The meego platform is integrated from maemo of Nokia and moblin of intel, it aims to provide a user experience similar to a portable computer for portable devices such as netbooks and smartphones. Nokia has dominated the mobile platform for more than 10 years. After all, it has realized that smartphones are the trend of the future development of mobile platforms, thanks to Apple's iPhone OS and Google's Android, in addition, the MTK mountain stockade machine has targeted both sides of the machine. Nokia has no way to go, and meego may carry too many expectations.

I still remember when I entered the mobile development industry in early 03, I went to the bookstore for the first time to buy mobile development books. I couldn't find a few books about mobile phone development on the bookcases, but I wanted to develop them on the mobile platform, most people will choose j2-or brew. Nowadays, the mobile development platform is really a matter of command by princes. The Palm OS has become yellow yesterday, And Symbian is on thin hills, and brew is difficult to trace. Even the MTK that once became popular is getting increasingly tired.

However, there is no doubt that the world will be able to combine for a long time, and that is why mobile platforms do not. However, Android, iPhone, meego, or Windows Phone 7 is the only thing in the world.

I remember discussing mobile platforms with my colleagues in the industry a few days ago. My point is that in the future, mobile platforms will surely be the world of smart machines, similar to platforms like MTK, it can only be as transient as a meteor, but it is brilliant but not persistent. Because Android, iPhone OS, meego, and Windows Phone 7 tend to be computers, they will not be phones with computer functions in the future, it is a computer with a telephone function, which is why Apple's Steve Jobs said the iPhone would be ahead of the mobile phone platform, because Apple faithfully implemented this concept on the iPhone, this is clearly visible in the Safari browser and widgets on the iPhone platform.

In recent years, China Mobile has been talking about "Business Transformation". In essence, it is still weakening its dependence on voice services and turning its main business to data services. Therefore, China Mobile is preparing to introduce the TD version of the iPhone, this means that WiFi and other services will no longer be castrated. From a historical perspective, any behavior that violates the historical development trend is doomed to fail, apple's failure in personal computers, Borland's failure in the development platform, and ATT's failure in UNIX provide us with powerful arguments. The future will undoubtedly be the world of the mobile Internet, and the mobile Internet means that voice and text messaging functions will be increasingly marginalized, and data services will increasingly replace traditional voice functions, this can be clearly seen in the history of PC Internet development.

Moore's law proposed by Intel is the IT industry's principle. Any hardware problem will not be or cannot be the biggest problem at all, when the price difference between shanzhai and smart phones is getting smaller and smaller, more people will choose smart phones, because user consumption is not only about price, but also about cost effectiveness.

For people engaged in application development, there are no doubt how to choose so many platforms, especially for beginners who are new to the mobile development field, in fact, a main line of the mobile development platform has gradually emerged. Just as a few years ago, when Gosling invented the Java language, it was unpredictable that Java would become the leader in network programming. In the future, Linus may be surprised that Linux will become the unification of mobile platforms, whether Android or meego, all adopt Linux-based systems, and even the iPhone OS can also be seen in Linux.
