Introduction to optical fiber channels: IP-based optical fiber channel (FCIP)

IP protocol-based fiber channel FCIP or FC/IP is an IP protocol based on the storage network technology, which is developed by the Internet Engineering workgroup IETF. FCIP allows optical fiber channels to transmit data between SAN devices on an IP network. This capability also facilitates data sharing in a geographically dispersed enterprise. FCIP is a method for transmitting storage data through an IP network. This protocol improves the transmission capability and performance of storage data. Therefore, FCIP is considered to be one of the key technologies to facilitate the rapid development of the SAN market.
