Many webmasters are struggling with whether to choose virtual hosts or VPS. there is no standard answer to this question. Because of different user requirements and different host configurations, it is difficult to distinguish between virtual hosts and VPS. In other words, virtual hosts and VPS have their own advantages and disadvantages. it is best to find the one that suits you.
Advantages of a VM:
Website Management is simple, site creation efficiency is high, and the cost is low. The web hosting provider has already helped you set up a bad environment for your website. what you need to do is to install website programs and improve website content. You don't have to worry about website security, system vulnerabilities, and so on.
Disadvantages of a VM:
The size of the VM space, database size, and bandwidth traffic are very limited. even foreign unlimited hosts have limits on CPU usage and the number of files. In addition, generally, virtual hosts are all public IP addresses, which are easily affected by websites on the same server. of course, this can be solved by purchasing an independent IP address.
Advantages of VPS:
Resources are relatively rich, with independent memory, independent space, independent CPU resources, and independent operating systems, which are limited by CPU resources, file numbers, databases, and other factors. Generally, VPS has an independent IP address, which is equivalent to a small independent server.
Disadvantages of VPS:
Management is complicated. you need to familiarize yourself with the operating system, install the website control panel and configure parameters, maintain system security, and upgrade vulnerability patches. That is to say, you must configure the underlying system of the website.
We can see from the above: there are obvious advantages and disadvantages of virtual hosts and VPS. how can the webmaster choose virtual hosts and VPS?
If you are a newbie webmaster or your website traffic is less than 10 thousand IP addresses per day, we recommend that you use the web hosting + independent IP address solution.
If you are a program expert or your website has more than 10 thousand IP addresses per day, we recommend that you use the VPS solution.
In my own experience, I prefer virtual hosts. If you use VPS, you need to spend more energy, and you can focus on updating and optimizing your website. Currently, some excellent virtual hosts provide abundant resources, which can fully meet the needs of common websites. We also remind you not to use low-price VPS, because these VPS are not as good as virtual hosts in terms of stability and resources.
