How does one configure a wireless router in a wireless lan? You may not know much about it. It doesn't matter. I will explain it in detail below. The development of wireless LAN is now very complete, and the speed is getting faster and faster. The current mainstream products not only achieve the speed of common wired Ethernet, but also have basic security assurance.
More importantly, no cabling is required for wireless networking. Therefore, it is the best choice for domestic users of the consumer type. In addition to the popularity of the Chinese version, it is time for most users to purchase a wireless router. However, with the popularization of wireless routers, the corresponding problems are also increasing. How to configure a wireless router after it is bought is a matter of greatest concern. In fact, configuring a wireless network is not complicated. The steps for configuring a wireless router are similar to those for configuring a wired router, but you need to pay attention to it in a few minutes.
1. place them in place
After obtaining the wireless router, the first thing to do is placement problems. The function of a wireless router is to convert a wired network signal into a wireless signal, which is the core of the entire wireless network. Therefore, its position determines the signal strength and transmission rate of the entire wireless network. Therefore, we recommend that you select a location that is not easily blocked and the signal can cover all corners of the house. The location of the wireless router should be relatively high. Wireless signals are transmitted in a straight line. Every time an obstacle occurs, wireless signals are weakened, especially metal objects.
The wireless router should be in the center of the room as much as possible. Because the Wireless AP coverage is a circular area, only when the Wireless AP is placed in the center of the room can the wireless signal be received at every location in the room, so as to effectively access the wireless network. The wireless network can automatically adjust the transmission rate to adapt to complex network environments. The closer it is to the Wireless AP, the stronger the wireless signal, the smaller the interference, and the higher the data transmission rate. Do not wear too many walls, especially reinforced concrete walls. The experiment shows that, at a distance of 10 meters, after a wireless signal passes through two brick walls, it can still reach the nominal highest transmission rate, but after passing through a layer of floor, the transfer rate will be half of the nominal rate. It can be seen that the reinforced concrete wall has a serious impact on wireless signals.
Ii. Careful Configuration
After finding a proper location, the configuration problem is solved. Each network device that complies with the TCP/IP protocol has its own IP address, and the wireless router is no exception. Generally, wireless routers have their own fixed IP addresses in the wireless LAN. This design also facilitates us to configure and test the wireless router by accessing this IP address. Of course, the IP addresses of wireless routers of different brands are different. For details, refer to the relevant instructions. Note that the wireless network card must be in the same IP segment as the wireless router.
Next, open your browser, enter the address of the wireless network node in the address bar, view the manual, and find the management password of the wireless network node. after entering the correct password, you can enter the management interface of the wireless network node. For a new router that has not been set up, some will also see the setting wizard (SetupWizard ). On pages such as ConnectionConfiguration, we can select the broadband network type. Generally, viaPPPoverEthernet is selected for ADSL, and viaDHCP is selected for Cable or FTTB. If the ISP needs to enter the user name and password, we can enter the corresponding location below and set Timeout to around S. Then, we can set the ESSID default value of the wireless router to WLAN. Do not forget to click the Save button after setting.
If the wireless router needs to connect to a 100/10 M wired network as a wired router, we need to further set up. In the SystemIPConfiguration configuration interface under options such as IP/DHCP, when DHCP is set to Enable, in this way, once you set the TCP/IP attribute of the wired network card and wireless network card to automatically get the IP address, you can get an IP address from the wireless router. As for the DNSIP address, you can query the local ISP, which is generally not set.
3. Adjust the client
The most important part of the client configuration is the essid id, which must be exactly the same as the ESSID value of the wireless router (including uppercase and lowercase letters ). The essid id is like a password between the wireless client and the wireless router. Only when they are identical can the wireless Nic access the wireless router, this is also an important measure to ensure the security of wireless networks. The ESSID identifiers for different wireless NICs are different, some are in the control panel, and some are using dedicated applications for NICs. For details, refer to the instruction manual. Generally, wireless routers of the same brand and wireless network interfaces use the same essid id default value. You do not need to set the default value. However, this may cause some security risks for commercial users. We recommend that you change the essid id.
Other configurations of the wireless client are very simple. In the past, annoying network settings can be put aside. Open the TCP/IP attribute of the wireless network adapter in the network attribute of the control panel, set the IP address of the wireless network adapter to automatically get, or keep it in the same network segment as the wireless network node. Now, if the wireless network adapter can be connected to a wireless network node, the laptop can access the Internet normally. If the connection fails, check the network settings or adjust the location of the wireless network node. At this point, the installation process is not complete. At this time, although the broadband sharing function is implemented, it is very insecure. If your neighbor has a wireless network card installed, he will be able to intrude into your wireless LAN, and even use your broadband to download BT. So I need to encrypt the network.
