Introduction to Word Animation Tutorial 124: Practical Application of multilevel symbols

This section is about the legacy of the previous section, where you want to implement the three effects of a custom multilevel number in the document: using the carriage return order to appear the next number, automatically formatting the title, and allowing the catalog to be fetched after use. The first step: Customizing the Style

1. Perform "format" → "Styles and formatting" to open the Styles and Formatting task pane.

2. Click the New Style button to open the New Style dialog box.

3. Name the new style, and be careful not to duplicate the built-in standard style.

4. In the style based on box, select the style you want the new style to refer to. In this case, the style is all based on the body.

5. Set the font format and paragraph format, click the lower left corner of the "format" button to further detail settings. The animation mainly demonstrates the setting of the paragraph format, such as alignment, indentation, and so on, especially to specify outline levels for paragraphs to satisfy the need to extract the catalog.

Note: To implement a catalog extraction, you can also create a new style based on the title when you customize the style, in which case you do not need to specify the outline level of the paragraph.

6. Finally, in the lower-left corner of the new Style dialog box, check the Add to template option to save the new style to the Normal template so that the styles can be used by documents that are later built on this template.

7. Create other new styles in accordance with the above method.

Step Two: Custom multilevel symbols

Method steps See the previous section, except that you want to link different numbering levels to the new style that you created in the first step.

Note: In the animation demo, the 5-9-level numbering and heading style links are still retained due to time constraints, so when the insertion point is at the top of the body paragraph, press the TAB key or click the Increase Indent button to continue the downward transition to the style shown as level 5-9 headings.

Step three: Use a custom multilevel symbol list (see animation)

After the above operation, basically achieved the expected effect: preset font and paragraph formatting (1, 2-level headings, 3-level headings and body-top lines indented 2 characters); Enter the next number automatically after a carriage return; perform the view → Document map, and you can see that you can extract 1, 2-level headings (3rd, The level 4 heading style does not specify a paragraph outline level, so it cannot be displayed in the Document Map.
