[IOS] TTS experience for iOS development

The Android system itself comes with the TTS function. At least the English language support is quite complete. In addition, there are Samsung TTS on the network, and Koda xunfei TTS. Android users can download, install, and use the TTS. Whether it is English or Mandarin, the effect is good. Therefore, Android Developers are happy and can easily develop and promote some TTS-related products.

For IOS systems, TTS is not supported. This requires developers to do more work. The first step is to find a useful TTS library.

After a simple search on the Internet, there will be an answer: openears and flitetts. These two databases are basically introduced on the network, but they are not actually used. During the actual test, I found that the two libraries had a poor effect on the pronunciation of English words, which was basically incomparable with TTS on Android, so I had to give up.

Later, I was able to only use the online TTS service interface provided by Google, but the effect was quite good. Interface is similar to http://translate.google.com/translate_tts? TL = en & Q = text. Replace text with the English text to be pronounced. This interface will directly return the MP3 file of the English pronunciation.

With the interface provided by Google, you can request the interface during the first pronunciation, cache the returned MP3 file, and play it back. If you pronounce the file again later, you only need to play the local cache file and do not need to request the interface again.
