IPwatchD is simple daemon that uses libpcap to detect IP conflict on Linux. it can be configured to listen on one or more interfaces (alias interfaces are also supported) in active or passive mode. in active mode IPwatchD protects your host before IP takeover by answering Gratuitous ARP requests received ed from conflicting system. in passive mode it just records information about conflict through standard syslog interface.

1. Search for this article: when other computers apply to use an IP address, arp query information will be sent, and the freebsd and win systems will respond, "this IP address is occupied by me ", the GNU linux kernel does not have this function. It can be said that it is a bug.

2. The above address provides a software. After compilation and installation, it will respond to arp requests from other computers to automatically run the software on startup. The installation has not been robbed yet. Wait for the test.

3. To enable debian to automatically run some scripts, you can do this:

1) write a script in the/etc/initi. d folder, such as myboot. The content is
Cd/usr/local/sbin
./Ipwatchd -- config/usr/local/etc/ipwatchd. conf
2) Add executable permissions
Sudo chmod + x myboot
3) install rcconf
Sudo aptitude install rcconf
4) Run rcconf.
Sudo rcconf
In the window, press the Space key in front of myboog and press *.
5) restart and you will see the ipwatchd process in the system monitor.

4. Use another XP Machine for testing. I will change its IP address to my IP address when I start the Internet, and it will be able to access the Internet. The Local Machine paused for a while and won't be able to access the network. After about 10 seconds, the local machine can be mounted and it won't be able to be mounted.
