Issues to be noted for configuring Oracle RAC

RAC is a cluster of Oracle companies, and there are many articles on the web that introduce the RAC configuration. But holding these wonderful documents doesn't necessarily make the RAC configuration successful. Because RAC is a very complex software, most of these documents only describe what should be done, but not what to do when something goes wrong.

The following conditions apply to AIX, Solaris, HP-UX, Linux. When configuring the RAC error, the error message is not clear, according to the error information generally can not determine the cause of the error, this time please judge the reasons for the error according to the following conditions.

1, the time of each node in the cluster should be as consistent as possible

2, do not give the public network card to specify 192.168.*.* and 10.*.*.* such private IP address

3, the public network must use the same network card of each node

4, each node needs a VIP,VIP must and the public network in a subnet

5, in some systems (such as Solaris), you need to assign a default gateway to the VIP

6, to partition the hard disk, to ensure that all nodes can see the partition information

7. To specify the correct permissions and owners for OCR devices and vote devices

8. To specify host names for public IP, private IP and VIP, the hostname cannot contain uppercase letters and _, but can contain a minus sign (-)

9. If the configuration fails, you should remove all the configuration results just now and start over again

10, in the installation of Clusterware, you need to set the environment variable Oracle_home. When Oracle and RAC are installed, you need to reassign this variable, and you cannot specify the same directory

11, correctly configure the trust relationship between the nodes
