According to people familiar with the matter, MySQL founder Michael Widenius submitted his resignation to Sun yesterday. Avienius is the core developer of MySQL, an open-source database software. In January this year, Sun announced the acquisition of MySQL for $1 billion. After verenius resigned, another key MySQL developer, Brian Aker, is likely to take over from verenius.

At the end of July, AKEL just released the simplified MySQL "Drizzle" for Web 2.0 ".
