The cartography and geographic information system science section of Nanjing Normal University is a national key discipline and a top priority discipline in Jiangsu Province. This discipline has a Jiangsu Provincial Key Laboratory of geographic information science, it has a Geographic Information Engineering Institute, MAP and Remote Sensing Research Institute, Institute of metering geography, Institute of Environmental Science, Department of geographic information science, and Department of Land Management; master's degree in geography-level disciplines and postdoctoral mobile stations, Master's degree in cartography and geographic information systems, Master's degree in remote sensing technology and application, Master's degree in Remote Sensing Technology and Application degree authority and geoinformation system Bachelor's Degree authority. In addition, this subject is also set up as a specialized professor of the Yangtze River Scholar Award Program of the Ministry of Education. At present, Nanjing Normal University has set this discipline as a discipline Special Zone, with a focus on investment and policy inclination. The discipline construction is intensifying. This subject has a long history. As early as the beginning of 1950s, Professor Lu Shufen, a famous Chinese cartography artist, set up the teaching and research base for cartography. In 1980, Cartography and Remote Sensing became the first master's degree authority approved by the State Council. In recent years, the provincial department of education and schools have attached great importance to the development of this frontier and high-tech discipline formed by the cross-Integration of geography, cartography, spatial science, and information science, it is included in the "211 project" Key Construction Project, with a focus on investment. The discipline construction has taken a step for one year, achieving extraordinary development. There are currently 1 member of the discipline, 14 professors, 18 associate professors, 25 teachers with a doctorate degree, and 8 doctoral students. Under the leadership of well-known young discipline leaders in the GIS field, such as Xing GUONIAN, Tang Guoan, and Sheng yehua, a talent echelon is formed, which is prosperous, vigorous, and united, he has undertaken a series of national high-level scientific research projects, including host and main participation in national 863 and 11 scientific and technological research projects, presided over 13 National Natural Science Foundation projects, and presided over 30 provincial and ministerial projects, 80 scientific and technological achievements conversion projects have produced a batch of high-level research results, with 445 sets of equipment and software, of which more than 200 sets of more than Yuan are provided, the hardware and software equipment in the laboratory is at the top level in China. "Geographic Information Technology and Application" has been included in the "211" Project Phase II discipline construction key project. In the basic theoretical research of geographic information science, the research of virtual geographic environment system platform, and the research of geographic information system sharing integrated platform, major breakthroughs have been made in geographic modeling research, regional virtual environment construction, environmental remote sensing information mechanism research, and ecological disaster reporting system construction. A series of GIS applications with independent intellectual property rights have been developed, cultivate a group of high-level professionals to meet social needs and make significant contributions to China's sustainable economic and social development and comprehensive national strength improvement.
