Keep Firefox up-to-date on Linux

Software on Linux always seems to be unable to keep pace with the times. Taking my system as an example, Firefox on my fedora 8 has become antique. However, this antique is not an antique, and it cannot be appreciated! In order to keep my little Linux updated, I made the following operations:

Well! How can this problem be solved? I think the installation method is simple. After you delete the original Firefox package, put the installation package under the directory you want to install, and then the solution is OK. Let's get down to the truth. Otherwise, the teacher will find it. We can see that there are two files. Among them, we need to use firefox-3.0.109.tar.bz2, which is the latest Linux version when I write this article. Then, run the following command:

Tar xjf firefox-3.0.10.tar.bz2

As soon as you press enter, you will see a row of clicks coming out... That's the speed! After all, this is just a compression solution. After the execution, don't forget to take a look at "ls" to see if there are any changes.

 

Now let's take a look at the results. See the new Firefox folder above! Enter, and then enter:

./Firefox

You can run the command.

We continue to torture our terminal and enter:

Ln-S/opt/Firefox/usr/bin/Firefox

In this case, a shortcut is placed in the directory so that it can be started with the large black box above. However, it cannot always be a black one, so let's dress it up beautifully...

Right-click the row property in the black box and click the largest spring icon below in the pop-up attribute dialog box:

 

Here, we can set it.

By the way, the editor has three icons in Firefox, chrome, icons, and default. We can choose the appropriate one.

 

If you want to install the flash plug-in, extract the "libflashplayer. So" file from the downloaded flash package and enter the Firefox/plugins folder.
