Lan Resource Sharing Fault Analysis and Solution

The largest application of the local area network is sharing Document Resources, audio and video resources, and printers. With the passage of time, the network environment may suffer many problems due to the impact of hardware and software. This chapter lists some common problems related to resource sharing. We hope to give readers a reference for troubleshooting. At the same time, we have prepared some relevant knowledge for everyone to understand and understand the essence of the problem.

Example 1: how to achieve mutual access between different network segments

Q: The IP addresses of the two Departments are similar to "192.168.0.1" and "192.168.1.1". Their subnet masks are "255.255.255.0" and they belong to different network segments. How can they access each other?

Analysis and Solution: When there must be more than two network segments in a LAN, hosts in different network segments are invisible to each other. If you want them to access each other, You must configure routes. There are two mature solutions. One is to purchase a dedicated router, which features powerful functions and fast network access. Disadvantage: thousands of hardware devices are required.

However, if you use the IP routing function of Windows 2000 Server (also known as a virtual router), it saves both cost and convenience. The implementation steps are as follows:

1) install two NICs on Windows 2000 Server and configure them as different network segments.

2) install the IP routing function. Click "Start Program \ administrative tool Routing and Remote Access" in turn to open the "Routing and Remote Access" window, click the "operations" menu, select the "configure and enable Routing and Remote Access" command, run the wizard, select the "network router" option in the "public settings" window, and finally install the TCP/IP protocol, if the remote access service is not installed, the routing function is enabled.

3) In order for each computer in different network segments to access each other, you also need to set IP Parameters for each computer, direct the gateway and DNS address to the IP address of the vro.

Conclusion: To achieve mutual access between computers in different network segments, an access channel must be established separately. This channel is a "Route ".

Example 2: What is the IP address of "127.0.0.1 "?

Q: What is the use of the IP address 127.0.0.1 when a Web server is created?

Analysis and Solution: "127.0.0.1" is a Local address, which is mainly used for testing. In addition, it is also called "Local host ". Therefore, a computer with the IP address 127.0.0.1 is not displayed in a network. In addition, many special IP addresses cannot be used in disorder, such:

1) "255.255.255.255", the network IP address is named "restricted broadcast address", and this address cannot be forwarded by the router. For the local machine, it represents all computers in the same network segment.

2) "224.0.0.1": This is a multicast address. It refers to all hosts and 224.0.0.2 refers to all routers. In fact, from 224.0.0.0 to 239.255.255.255, it belongs to the multicast address. In general, such addresses are used for some specific programs.
There is also an IP address "169.254.X.X". If the local machine is automatically assigned an IP address (DHCP function) through the server, the local system will report such an IP address when DHCP fails.

Summary: In general, these special IP addresses are not assigned to any host and are only used to represent the network address of a network.

Case 3: the message "You are not authorized to access the resource" is displayed"

Q: Why does the error message "You have no permission to access resources" appear when other computers in the LAN access the shared folder?

Analysis and Solution: this type of problem is frequently encountered during mutual access between Windows 98 and Windows 2000/XP. The following policies can be taken:

1) enable the Guest user.

Windows 2000/XP does not enable this account by default. After the Guest account is enabled, you do not need to enter the user name and password when accessing Windows 2000/XP on Windows 98, this example also solves the problem.

2) disable the firewall on the local connection.

That is, Microsoft's built-in Internet Connection Firewall (ICF) in Windows XP, the vulnerability is that after the firewall is enabled on a local connection, mutual access between Working Groups may fail, such: similar prompts such as "XXX cannot access", "You have no permission to access resources", and "network path not found.

3) Add the NetBEUI protocol.

Because the NetBEUI automatically installed in Windows 98 is also an important protocol, and Windows XP no longer provides technical support for the NetBEUI protocol, you need to manually add it to maintain the same protocol as Windows 98.

Conclusion: In addition, check whether there are security policy restrictions, line faults, and switch operations in Windows 2000/XP.

Case 4: the client cannot find the shared printer.

Q: After a Network printer is installed on the client, why can't the device be found in "Network neighbors", and only "Microsoft Windows Network" information appears in the shared printer list?

Analysis and Solution: This is a common problem in shared network printing. You can solve the problem by using the following methods:

1) install the "NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol" Protocol for the NIC in Network Properties to improve network adaptability (Click Install in the "local connection" Properties window, then click "protocol" to add and find the protocol to be installed.) This will generally solve the problem.

2) In "Network neighbors", enter the network host, right-click the share printer icon, and select "Connect" from the shortcut menu ", click "yes" in the pop-up box to reinstall the shared printer.

3) check whether the "Internet Connection Firewall" function is enabled for "Local Connection" on the host. If it is enabled, disable it (under the "advanced" tab of the local connection ).

Tip: if you still want to enable the "Internet Connection Firewall" function, you must install the NetBEUI protocol (non-Routing Protocol ).

Example 5: how to hide yourself in "Network neighbors"

Q: Can I hide a computer in a network neighbor to prevent others from accessing a computer through a network neighbor at will?

Analysis and Solution: Although hiding a computer in a network neighbor can be achieved, it does not mean that the computer cannot be accessed. It just gives other users an illusion, they can still be found by entering "\ IP address or computer name" in the address bar of the browser or my computer.

To implement this hiding, you can simply run the "net config server/hidden: yes" command in the doscommand Prompt window. Another way is to modify the registry, find the KEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetServicesLanManServerRarameters branch, and then create or modify the "Hidden" key value to 1.
