● Networking structure
① Flat structure
This method uses a vswitch of the same model for networking, which features a simple structure and low cost. The flat structure can be divided into cascade, port aggregation, and stacking.
Cascading diagram 1) is the most common networking method. It is connected through UpLink on a vswitch. Note that a vswitch cannot have unlimited cascade operations. Cascade operations by more than a certain number of vswitches will eventually lead to a broadcast storm, leading to a severe decline in network performance.

Figure 2) equivalent to cascade multiple ports at the same time, it provides higher interconnection bandwidth and line redundancy, so that the network has a certain degree of reliability.

Stack mode figure 3) inserts a stack module into the expansion slot of the switch, and uses a dedicated stack link to exchange data between switches. The stacked vswitch group can be viewed as a vswitch with better switching capability and higher port density. Note that the switches produced by different manufacturers cannot be stacked together.

② Layered structure
Layer-by-layer networking diagram 4) is used in complex network structures and can be divided into access layer, aggregation layer, and core layer by function.

● Configuration method
Generally, a vswitch with the extended function needs to be set, while a common vswitch does not need to be set on it. Because the configuration interfaces of different products are different, the configuration method of the vswitch is briefly described here.
First, connect one end of the serial line to the Console interface of the switch, and the other end to the serial port of the computer.
Then, run the Super Terminal Program on the computer, create a new connection, use the default attribute to set the serial port, and then click Connect. After you press enter a few times, a character menu interface will appear. You can set an IP address and subnet mask for the server used to manage the vswitch as prompted, so that you can remotely manage the vswitch through Telnet and Web.
